Rice Box Cafe feels like a hidden gem in Mililani Mauka. From the outside it looks simple with only a few places to sit, yet the inside stays clean, calm, and welcoming.
Most folks choose takeout here, and I have always ordered online with no issues at all. Portions are generous, and every dish has rich, satisfying flavor. The menu is not very large, yet every item they serve tastes wonderful. I enjoy places that keep their menu focused and deliver great quality every time.
People around Mililani already seem to love this spot, and I can see why. It has quickly turned into my favorite place for takeout in central Oahu.
Try it once, and you will see why it stands out!

The food here is fantastic! I found this place while on a trip visiting the Dole plantation, and was looking for something with good reviews, of course. This restaurant absolutely lives up to the reviews: the food was incredible, and the staff were very kind. We got the chicken katsu and the Yakiniku Beef, which were both great. The restaurant itself is tiny and can only accommodate about 8 people, so to-go may be your best bet.

Really really good food and service. I tried them for the first time today and the presentation was amazing and the flavor was even better I got a side of their noodles and the plate was the heaviest side I’ve had. I had to wait for maybe 8 minutes and my food came out piping hot and crispy. The man that took my order thanked me for waiting and was very kind. 10/10

Enjoyed the Tonkatsu sandwich here – probably the most satisfying crunch of any sandwich I’ve ever had ever. Would definitely come back. Very small seating area inside – they seem to do a lot of takeout business.

We tried Rice Box Cafe and got the Furikake Garlic Chicken and the Dynamite Chicken. Both my husband and I loved the Furikake Garlic Chicken—it was flavorful, crispy, and totally hit the spot. The Dynamite Chicken wasn’t quite for us; it had a fishy or seaweed-like taste that just didn’t match our preferences. That said, we still ate both plates and would definitely come back again.
The service was quick, kind, and efficient—we only waited about 5 to 10 minutes. The place stays consistently busy with people coming and going, which speaks to its popularity. There are only two small tables inside, so it’s definitely more of a takeout spot.
There are so many other things on the menu that look amazing, so we’re excited to come back and try more!

AMAZING food and service here. The folks working clearly have a pride of ownership shining through. My husband grew up local and said it’s the BEST chicken katsu he’s ever had in his life.

I cannot say enough great things about this place. Hands down my favorite food on Oahu so far. We loved it so much we ate there two nights in a row. Everything was extremely flavorful and delicious. The front staff were two very knowledgable, friendly and welcoming young adults. They shared with us their favorite spots to check out and gave us great local recommendations. We dined in both nights. There were two tables (a 4 person & a 6 person) so if you plan to dine in, I recommend calling ahead to make a reservation. However, it was the perfect spot for grabbing and going. All the food was well packaged for easy transport. My favorite was the Teriyaki Chicken with chile aioli on top. If you’re in Mililani do not miss out! Make sure you stop and enjoy some truly delicious cuisine.
