Staff friendly and decent food. Just a shame no cider on tap, or bigger bottles(only 330ml).
Both sandwiches were good, came with some salad and fries, and came out quickly.
Only complaint is the onions in the salad (I’m allergic), and they could have put a touch more chutney on the sandwich so it was less dry.
13.99 pounds.
Fries were newly cooked as well.
Service was friendly and warm, almost like family. The waiter made us feel welcome, service was quick too. We went at 1:15 pm for lunch.
Chili con carne was ok, served with fries as well.
The ceiling and back wall of the bar was full of signed navy hats. Unique and quite interesting.
Our waiter was charming, he asked where we were from and when we told him the US he proceeded to ask us to mention a state and he would quickly respond with the correct capital. We were impressed.
Good food, slow getting our food to us but overall very tasty.
5 or so minutes later, they advised they have no beef and agreed to the chicken in pepper sauce option.
The food arrived as chicken in pepper sauce with chips – when we advised we ordered with rice, were abruptly told they “don’t even serve rice” by who appeared to be the owner. It’s literally there as an option on your specials menu.
The chips were clearly cheap frozen chips too, so not that enjoyable for the price.
So no beef, and no rice. 2 stars for food as the actual fish was OK, and the chicken wasn’t dry. Pepper sauce was bland.
The venue itself has a nice atmosphere, with little birds flying in & out. Staff spoilt it a bit in our experience, although the lady behind the bar seemed nice.
Toilets are 1 cubicle each for man & woman, with no way off seeing if it’s occupied aside from trying to rattle it open.
