As far as food we ordered the Blue Cheese Chips as an appetizer to share and it came with more than we expected. Very good but make sure to eat them fast otherwise they get a little soggy.
For main courses I got the Bison Manhattan and subbed the puréed potatoes for broccolini. The Bison and the accompanying sauce was amazing. It was a great cut of meat, it was more on the tougher side so don’t expect filet tenderness but the taste was unique but mild enough to not know it wasn’t standard cow.
My wife got the ribeye which was excellent as well. It was a large portion so I ended up eating the rest of hers. It was cooked beautifully with all the rendered fat and extremely tender for a ribeye.
My only complaint is they don’t include sizes for the other meat cuts besides the 14 oz ribeye.
Also had dinner. Portions are small but flavorful. Toffee cake was excellent.
Tuesday nite, surprisingly it was packed, good news.
I skipped the resturant went to the bar, Nick was my barman. Good dude.
Old fashioned, nothing special =rock solid. Attentive, I’ll be back.
Food. (I was in the bar)
I had the steak. Chefs reccomendaton on the cook.
Presentation was fine, plate was cold, steak was room temp. I was in the bar.
Cooked perfectly, but sodium was only on one side, and it was lacking for the amount of beef flavor in the steak. The sauce was an absolutely great addition, but still need more salt on the meat.
Veg on the side, great flavor, balanced, undercooked. Just really undercooked. The fried greens not needed. 80s called.
Here’s the letdown, big Ole line of silver on the meat. I have paid a lot less for a steak, but for this place, its a deal breaker. I ate half of it, and chewed my head off. Beef was there, kitchen sucked.
Need better knives as well.
Im coming back in 4 days, ill update if its worth it.
Grand, urban hill, Spencer’s, are all better.
They comped the steak, I did not ask for that. Ill try again.
The fries were show string which aren’t my thing, some nice thick ones would be better.
My wife got the grilled cheese which was also good but had too much cinnamon in the spice blend I think.
But wow that burger. I almost got another one it was so good.
The dinner menu looked excellent too but I didn’t get to try it. Although if I’m ever back in SLC I will.
The scallops were perfect and the cocktails are well crafted.
Entrance on the side of the building, walk in a ways and it’s on the right. Bathrooms are further down the hallway on the left.
In from out of town and wanted to treat my friend to a nicer -definitely not- chain restaurant-but definitely not Flemings. After some quick research I found this place and checked out their online menu with prices. Their published dinner menu ranges from $7-$19 Appetizers and on average, $45 entrees with larger cuts of steak upwards of $100 plus.
We picked out what we wanted before we arrived expecting to spend around $60 each for entrees and appetizers. Instead when we got there for our 6:30 reservation we were given a one page menu with completely different food options. There was not one single thing -rabbit croquettes ($16), bread board ($7), or the roasted cabbage steak ($26) that I wanted to order on the current menu we were given. I asked the waitress and she said oh yes I haven’t seen that option in ages we should update our online menu sorry about that! Ya think?!? To avoid embarrassment we stayed and ordered. I ordered a single entree plate of lamb for around $70 and my friend ordered a single entree bison for around $65. Then 40 minutes later the food arrived. Was it worth the price? Probably. I have no complaints about the food. Maybe I’d feel more excited about it if I wanted to spend almost $100 after tip and drink per person. (I tipped $20)
But I’m never going back because what I wanted and what I got was not even close.
Just feels dirty. Especially when I was expecting so much more for less (as portrayed on their online menu available to the public)
Update your menu!
Overall, the food was decent and the plating was amazing, but everything was overpriced. I’ve had fine dining many times so I understand they’re more expensive, but the food quality was not worth the price. There just wasn’t any dish that really wowed me and made me want to come back for more. Also, the portions were small and I was surprised to find that the $51 ribeye did not come with any side. For this price, I’d at least expect there to be some vegetables on the side. The rating dropped to a 3-star because of the service. The server didn’t seem very friendly. After taking our orders, he also never came once to check on us and asked how we liked the food, so we didn’t get the chance to tell him about the undercooked steak. He’s probably busy though because he seemed to be the only server taking orders. We waited for a while before we could get the check. I was also disappointed because it was our anniversary, and I chose Bambara because I saw some positive reviews about celebrating special occasions at this place, but they didn’t do anything for us, and the overall experience wasn’t that great. I’d find a different restaurant next time.
