First time visiting—and baby, they understood the assignment! I was in town from Reno ️ for my son’s football game and my sister brought me here for lunch ️.
The vibe? Welcoming and laid-back . The service? On point—friendly , fast ⚡, and full of smiles . And the food? Whew! Let me tell you about that shrimp cocktail —LOADED like it was trying to make a statement . They don’t skimp here. Portions are generous , so come hungry leave with leftovers and a smile .
If you’re in Tulare and want a spot that feels like a win , this is it. I’ll definitely be back!

MAJOR FOOD POISONING.
I visited this place on Feb 14th with high expectations… the food here is not authentic Mexican food. I ordered the asada fries and was truly disappointed.
Yesterday (2/15) around noon I felt my stomach hurt and soo nauseous. I figured it could’ve been something I ate the day before. Yup. I spent the whole afternoon vomiting and unable to keep any liquid or food in my system. In the night I went to the ER spent 3 hrs there just to be told it was a stomach bug caused by something I might’ve ate the day before.
SERVICE/ ATMOSPHERE.
Servers were quick to get our drinks, but not so quick with taking our food order and even worse handing out our food. Very sad to see 2 tables that arrived after us get their food prior to us. We were so close to paying our drinks and heading out.
I do not recommend coming here. I won’t be returning either.

Thank you for a nice place to sit back and have some great good. I travel all year and finding a nice personable place to eat with great food and service is tough at times. Fajitas were top notch. Flavor is definitely 1 of a kind. Very good.

Really highly disappointed about this location. I really expected a much better experience, with the high reviews local TV newscasters had ranted and raved of this place. Our 1st time in this place and it looked like it was going to be a pleasant experience, for starters getting into the building was unusual since parking was mainly in the rear of building. Rear entry doors were not marked or was there any indication that entry was in other location of building. Once in had to asked employee where do you check in, once we found counter area that was unmanned had to wait and a server asked us if we were there to dine (silly question). Next they seated us in a corner (facing corner) looking at repaired window wall and glass window of some sort. When I asked if we could be moved to another location in place of this very usual seating place we were told no when there was obviously other seating available. Next we were finally attended served chips and chile sauce not even a salsa. Ordering menus spoke highly of the authentic homemade dishes that were far from being authenticly homemade. I had the famous chile Colorado and had to ask for a side salad, my wife had the famous fried tilapia both of us ask for flour tortillas. Long wait ensued that I even had asked for more chips and salsa that never came, mean while salad was served, sadly salad was served with brown lettuce mix with fresh lettuce. Once we received our meals my chile Colorado looked like it was thrown together using more of a stewd tomato sauce than a red pepper sauce chile, pork used was definitely over cooked and more like jerky. My wife’s dish tilapia was definitely under cooked. Beans and rice looked like they were made days ago and flour tortillas were definitely not authenticly homemade. In fact they seems to be days old as well. I know that I wrote a lot and I never in my 65 years have had a terrible experience as I encountered at this place. Sadly I have to be honest about my disappointments and I definitely will never walk in or recommend this eatery to any of my friends and family or colleagues.

Good sized portions, yummy food and good service. There were 16 adults and 4 children in our party. We were there for a post Wedding rehearsal dinner. All of the adults ordered something different and everyone was very happy with their selection.

Grew up going to Vejars but moved out of the area. Was visiting earlier this month and took the chance to go again. The food is great – bean and cheese burritos with cheese on top have been my go-to since childhood so I had to have one, but I also had a tostada, which was good too. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Also, I am so excited that they bottle their special sauce now – enjoying the two bottles I have from 3,000 miles away.

Vejar’s Mexican Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge December 13, 2023 It had been awhile since me & my daughter had came here so we came for a late lunch & we both had gotten their “Combos & Other Delicacies” on the menu. So I got the #13 Two Shredded Beef Flour Tacos & rice & beans plus my drink & my daughter she had got the #21 3-items Combo, Cheese Enchilada & a Chile Renlleno & a Taco (Carnitas) & rice & beans plus her drink also. The chips & the red salsa was delicious! Not hot at all & had a very good flavor. So Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner it’s all good & remember they have a “BAR” & It’s 5 O’clock somewhere!
