I ate here with a few coworkers for lunch, we all ordered wings and everyone really enjoyed them!
If I am ever in the East valley, I know which sports bar I will be stopping at from now on.
We were greeted by a sign to seat ourselves when we entered, it’s always nice to be able to choose your own spot. They have QR code menus on the tables and we were also brought hard copy menus. Some newer offerings aren’t in the online menu and there is also a lunchtime special menu with a wide selection of items for $12. I was super impressed with the selection of food overall and the quality was decent for pub fare. As an example, we asked if the boneless wings were essentially chicken nuggets and the waitress said they make everything from scratch in the kitchen, they don’t get frozen wings and deep fry them. We ordered the wings and the Bavarian pretzel with honey mustard as appetizers and they were both delicious.
When the time came to order our meal we weren’t sure we needed any more food! But we caved and ordered the smash burger with sweet potato fries and the grilled cheese sandwich. Our pals ordered the burger and the tuna tartare salad, they both were very impressed with their choices. They didn’t ask how we wanted the burger cooked (we prefer a medium rare burger) so it was overcooked for our tastes. My grilled cheese sandwich was fun, their take on it with tomato and arugula is a good version. My sweetie wanted to try the Mac and cheese so I ordered that as my side, honestly that was disappointing, it had panko and bacon and I’m a bit of a purist so it wasn’t for me.
The service was outstanding in a way that deserves special mention. We were helped by no fewer than four people who checked in on us, all with engaging good humor. I’m sorry I don’t know your names or I would give you a shout out, you all deserve it for making our lunch (and a reunion with our pals) memorable for all of us.
We all enjoyed a beer while we were there, they have a huge selection and were quick to provide samples.
The restroom was clean and well stocked. It was also clear where they are located.
I highly recommend this as a place to drop in for drinks and a bite, you won’t regret it and the service in particular will knock your socks off!
I would like to say they were understaffed, but they weren’t.
Our visit started with the waitress getting 3 of the 5 drinks correct, then she NEVER followed up with refills, to include the additional drink we asked for ……3 times!!! We ended up getting drink refills and requested drink from the food runner.
When ordering food, an item requested was sold out, which was not related to us by the waitress during her interactions prior to ordering.
Our appetizer came out with our food, 30mins after ordering.
One of the five meals was room temperature. When it came back to the table, at least 15 mins later, the plate lacked the amount of food as the first time.
Following the notification and replacement of our cold meal, we watched the manager stare at our table but he never made contact. Had he spoken to us, we would have brought up the concerns of lack of service. We also watched the manager readjust himself and check his pants zipper, with his hand, while facing the resturant floor.
For the duration of the hour and 10mins we sat at the table, the waitress NEVER checked in on us, outside of taking our order, dropping off the meal replacement, and the drinks, but we did hear her check in other tables around us. In the end, had we not waived her down to pay, who knows how long we would have sat there.
Not that we asked or were expecting, but for those wondering, we recieved no discount or comp for the cold food.
The Hungry Monk, do better! Customer service is not a dead concept.
