I’d been meaning to come here and I’m so glad to have finally done so. You know a place has been around a while when they‘ve accumulated so much decor they have to put it on the ceiling. I had 2 good beers here and also tried the Chicago style deviled eggs ($5). A particularly charming feature was the bartender stopping the shot wheel at Malört for each and every person that tried their luck. Get Burger On Tap!!

Don’t hesitate. Just go! The menu is a bit confusing because it just lists the meat by the pound, but you can ask for any assortment of meats and any weights that you want. Best BBQ out of probably 400 that I have tried. Definitely get the pork belly, but the pastrami and brisket are also very high on my list. If they happen to be serving Texas Twinkies, definitely give one of them a try. Their vinegar sauce is surprisingly delicious on almost everything…but none of their meat needs any sauce. It’s wonderful.

Super nice Irish pub with very good variety of beers. The Surley Mosh Hazy IPA is very good, slightly fruity. The hamburguers were also delicious and with a good size.

Had a drink. Awesome old school Speakeasy. The dark wood walls and decor look original. A lot of history here to admire while you sip your drink. Go past restrooms down stairs to Speakeasy The Drifter. Will need to get added to waiting list to get in.

Loved it! Great food and drink selection. Don’t forget to go downstairs to the speakeasy for drinks and a small vaudeville style show.

We stopped here on a food tour. We had an old-fashioned and then we ended up staying for a few more drinks. This place is full of history and a speakeasy! We ended up going to a different bar for a little bit and then ended up back at the green door. Tavern for one more before heading home. The bartenders were great. They gave great food recommendations. The service was quick. The drinks were delicious and perfectly poured!

Walk into the green door and have yourself a nice old fashioned. Classy, dim, beautifully decorated haunt.

Green Door is a great iconic Chicago tavern. Food is hit or miss. For example, Scotch Eggs were great. Deviled Eggs weren’t anything special. Grilled cheese was ok. Brisket on pretzel bun was incredible.

I’ve been to Green Door Tavern before, but never had a bartender like autumn . I was in town again on a business trip and decided to stop by — best decision I made all week. She completely changed the vibe. Fast with the pours, smooth with the banter, and just straight-up fun to be around.
She’s got that rare mix of professionalism and personality that makes you feel like a regular even if you’re just passing through. Drinks were perfect, service was sharp, and her energy pulled the whole room together.
Autumn raised the standard — hands down the best bartender I’ve had there. If she’s behind the bar, you’re in for a damn good time.

Came here as part of the Barrel bus prohibition tour of Chicago. It completes the experience nicely. Love the fried Nutella sandy – I am too weak to resist Service is great. They know what they are doing.
