Fit and Grandmother
I stopped in during an afternoon of meandering around Mystic. I had an IPA they had on draft. The atmosphere is really great, full of energy. The service was really good, too.
I decided to order a vegan appetizer if they had it (they don’t specifically carry vegan apps). He recommended sweet potato fries, which I didn’t even see on their menu. They were properly seasoned and hit the spot!
I recommend stopping in just to experience the energy and service.

This was my second time at chapter one. I was Excited to return after a delicious meal with my family in the summer for my friends bachelorette party. Parking was rough so we arrived a little late for a reservation, but still within the 15 minute window and the hostess stated you just made it in a rude tone upon arrival. It seemed like they were annoyed to see us, even though the restaurant wasn’t very full or busy. Our server seemed to be snappy and have an attitude from the get-go. This is not the experience I had had the first time I went. We ordered our food and when it arrived, my bacon wrapped dates were burnt to a crisp black. I sent them back ofc and it was corrected but I was surprised they even brought that to the table. One of the girls in the party asked for a dessert menu at the end of the night and in a very awkward, rude tone our server stated we don’t have any dessert which was not the norm for the area. It seemed like she wanted us to leave. Our reservation was for seven so it’s not like we were there late and the majority of us ordered a few apps instead of full meals and it seemed like our waitress wanted us to leave as soon as possible. We weren’t drinking that much either so I’m not sure if she was worried she was gonna get a low tip or she was just tired from the day, but it was not a good experience and that’s very frustrating because their food is so good and it’s in such a good area.

Chapter One completely saved the night! The cocktails are top-notch—every drink is mixed to perfection. Whether it’s date night, a night out with friends, or you’re visiting from out of town, this is a must-stop while shopping or exploring the area.
The real standout is the staff. Our waitress was friendly, welcoming, and gave excellent local recommendations that made the experience even better. Between the atmosphere, the perfectly made drinks, and the service, Chapter One is a spot I’ll definitely be coming back to.

My boyfriend and I loved this place. The food was amazing with unique offerings for sides that weren’t just french fries. The crispy potatoes with the chipotle mayo are delicious, and the maple brussels sprouts and atlantic salmon were as well. My boyfriend got the rigatoni which was just so tasty. He got the old fashioned flight which has original, chocolate, cherry, and maple old fashioneds, and the cherry was his favorite. No one does an old fashioned better than the Mariner though. I had sangria which was very tasty, but mostly just tasted like juice (unlike at the Mariner where they cut it with tuaca and aperol so it has a more alcoholic taste to it). The only reason this place didn’t get 5 stars is because they have a little bit of a fly/gnat problem. We were sat by a window so there were multiple flies by us, but mind you we could’ve asked to move seats but didn’t, so we can’t blame them for that. We weren’t going to add the bugs to the review until we saw many gnats in the bathrooms. It’s summer so bugs are expected, but it was just more than usual inside. Service and atmosphere were great.

Got 2 different flights-old fashions and chocolate martini flights, very good and super cool. Atmosphere was great, staff friendly October atmosphere with lots of people walking the street, live music. Bacon wrapped scallops were delicious but only 4 of them as heads up. But we got Lobster mac and cheese and it was cold. Not luke warm, straight cold. We expected a baked mac and cheese, this isnt it. It was penne noodles and a thin, soupy mac sauce. We wont send food back and it was 8pm so starving, ate it and just let them know. They apologized and said they would tell the chef. We told her after the bill came, dont want money back but want to let them know for the next person. Only part of the meal that was a bummer
EDIT:Went back for only the bar because the flights were great the previous night. Got margarita flights this time, definitely worth going for the bar

Came in from NYC for a day trip. Our Uber driver recommended this place. Small but simple menu. Food was delish. Everyone in onesies for some reason. Ordered fried calamari, 2 lobster rolls, 1 blt burger for three, two sodas and a tea. Total $142 before tip. Casual and relaxed atmosphere. Busy bar full of local patrons which is another good sign.

Stopped by Chapter One on NYE and sat at the bar as a first time guest!! The bartender was friendly and checked on me frequently. I ordered the calamari to start and steak for my entree. Everything was absolutely delicious! Will def be back!

The venue was nice, and the staff were great. Our waitress was also very sweet, and they were very accommodating for our baby. The only drawback was the drinks, which were quite disappointing. I ordered the old fashioned flight, which sounded and looked very cool. But unfortunately the taste didn’t match the description. The drinks all tasted like watered down, premixed cocktails made with bottom shelf bourbon. I couldn’t even finish them, and I love old fashioneds.. It wasn’t cheap either. Overall a nice place for a casual dinner, but don’t waste your time or money on the cocktails here. Best to stick with the beers or wine.

Just stopped in for some soup based off good reviews. Got the French onion and clam chowder and both were pretty good. Also got a flight of the margs. Maybe it was the person on shift that night or idk but I felt like I was drinking watered down tequila with all the margs with like a splash of whatever flavor I ordered. Wouldn’t get those again.
