Finally got a chance to stop in and try this BBQ joint. Unfortunately, they were out of tips. I love hot links so I gave them a try. I ordered the small links for $12.99. It was served with your typical fries and 2 slices of bread. I did like the links, but I would have preferred them served whole not partially scored. The sauce was not my fave as it was slightly bland and thick almost like gravy. I would definitely return to try the tip and link combo. I will say the fries were fried just right. Sometimes bbq joints are 50/50 when it comes to properly cooked fries. This is a CASH ONLY establishment.

Came back later after they opened and was glad we did. Ordered 2 medium tips and 2 medium combo tips and links.
All 4 orders were loaded up. Great value for the price.
The sauce was mild and not sure if there were more sauce options. Next time gonna tell them to put sauce on the fries too.

Let’s get it out the way, Exsenators is a hole in the wall but those are the best spots to go. Their BBQ is tender and meaty, the sauce is sweet, heat and just the right amount of tangy. I moved to Delaware and when I come home, my father always asks me to pick some up on my way to his house. This is quintessential Chicago BBQ.

Nasty nasty nasty. Haven’t been there in about 15 years and the food has changed for the worse. Fries kinda ok you have to ask for sauce on them. The rib tips had no seasoning with an artificial smoke added. Taste like they were boiled. Sauce thin and taste like watered down ketchup. Wasted $20. And the kicker…they only accept Cash! What a bummer.

Overall a great restaurant. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken the portions for the price is perfect. The smoked chicken taste great. The chef who I believed to be the owner was very nice he even offered me a Gatorade when I was leaving out the restaurant. I am not local to this area so I would say maybe not the best area to be in late night but everyone was very kind to me.
