We moved into the area last year and started going to Fabio’s in February of ’25. We were blown away by the food and the staff, excited to have this true neighborhood gem so close. We would occasionally dine in but more and more, ordered take-out to have a weekly no-cook treat.
About a month ago, my wife was out of town and I ordered a pizza on a Sunday afternoon. They quoted me a half hour which seemed odd but I went in at 25 minutes and found the pizza box sitting on the bar, confirmed it was my order and took it home (a 3 minute drive). I opened the box and the pizza was cold and dead, still delicious but was probably sitting on that bar for a good 15 minutes or more.
This past Friday, I ordered a pizza, lasagna, meatballs and a Diplomatico for dessert. I was quoted 40 minutes so I went in at 30 to be safe. I was told that it would be about 10 more minutes so I waited outside. 10 minutes later I went back in to see them boxing the lasagna and they told me my order was ready. Great, I thought, better I wait for fresh food than the food waiting for me. After the quick drive home we were ready to dig in to all the foods we normally order.
I opened the pizza box first a found a doughy blob of a pizza that hadn’t been stretched enough and was literally raw around the edges, there was no way to properly cook a pie that had not been fully stretched without burning parts of it. The lasagna was basically 6-7 layers of undercooked noodles with almost no filling between layers. The meatballs, normally to die for, were tiny and TOUGH. The final insult was the dessert which was about 1/2 the size we normally see, broken into two parts and with only 1 slice of strawberry.
Yes, it was a Friday night, but this was before 6:00 and the place was less than half full. There is simply no excuse for the poor quality all the way around. We will probably try again to see if this was a one-off but things seem to be heading in the wrong direction here, which is very sad to see.
We ordered bruschetta, the bread was good but the crust was super hard and the bruschetta part was just store-bought cherry tomatoes and store-bought balsamic glaze. My wife ordered the Bolognese, which was decent but bland.
I ordered margherita pizza. Typically, margherita has sliced tomato, basil, and fresh mozzarella on it. I asked for “a lot of basil”. What came out (and I’m not even exaggerating) was a cheese pizza with exactly 4 pieces of basil on it. The pizza was thin, which is fine, Sicilian style is usually a small pizza with thin crust, but the cheese just fell off the pizza, was a bit stiff, not melt, and the crust was soggy and floppy.
We also ordered a gelato to go as we were on our way to go walk around a neighborhood and look at decorations. When we got the bill, we paid for the gelato but were ALSO charged an extra THREE DOLLARS for the gelato being to-go.
Overall, we won’t be returning. Again, the service was fine and the staff was friendly, nothing against them, but there are a ton of great restaurants out there with unique flavors and dishes, and if we’re going to go spend 60 dollars on dinner, there’s absolutely nothing Fabio On Fire offers that we couldn’t find elsewhere. I’m always incredibly disappointed when we go to an Italian restaurant that appears to be mom-and-pop authentic, and we end up getting Olive Garden quality.
We hosted my son’s engagement party here, and the entire experience was flawless. Jenny was absolutely outstanding and the heart of this event. She was professional, warm, patient, and incredibly attentive to every detail. From the very beginning, she guided us through the planning process, anticipated our needs, and made everything feel easy and stress-free.
Jenny went above and beyond in every possible way. She closed the entire patio for our event, was extremely flexible, and handled every request with a positive attitude and genuine care. Since the engagement was a surprise, she worked closely with us to make sure everything was timed perfectly so my son could pull it off seamlessly for his girlfriend. Her dedication, kindness, and passion for what she does truly made this a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The staff, especially Stella and Maurizio, were incredible servers — attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout the entire event.
We highly recommend Fabio on Fire for any type of celebration or special event. Thanks to Jenny and her amazing team, this night will always be unforgettable.
