Kobe Japanese Steakhouse had been on our list for a while, so we chose it for a Sunday night dinner with friends. Reservation at 7 PM, party of four.
Parking was easy — plenty of space, valet available, which is always convenient. We waited slightly past our reservation time, but it wasn’t excessive. The koi pond outside makes the wait more pleasant than just standing by the door.
Once seated, the experience followed the classic teppanyaki format. Shared grill table, chef introduction, menu walkthrough. One detail worth noting: parties of six or more are automatically charged 18% gratuity. We were four, so tipping remained discretionary.
Food overall was good.
Miso soup — solid.
Rice — standard.
Chicken teriyaki — well executed, flavorful, properly cooked.
The chef handled the grill confidently and service throughout the night was attentive and professional.
The issue for me was the steak.
I ordered the Imperial steak (around $50), medium rare. The temperature was confirmed before cooking. However, once cut into smaller pieces on the grill, the final doneness leaned closer to medium. Some pieces were clearly cooked longer, likely to accommodate other temperature preferences at the table. A few additional pieces were served later, cooked further than requested.
It wasn’t poorly prepared.
It simply wasn’t precise.
At this price point, precision matters.
Our total came to $316 for four people before tip. For that level of spend, execution should align exactly with what was ordered, especially when doneness is discussed in advance.
The overall experience wasn’t bad. Service was professional. The atmosphere delivers the expected Japanese steakhouse energy. The chef was competent.
For me, however, it’s a one-time experience.
If invited again, I wouldn’t object.
But I wouldn’t specifically choose to return.
We tipped appropriately — effort and service were acknowledged.
Good experience. Not a repeat one.

To be honest, I really wanted to like this place. I love teppanyaki and have eaten it all over the world, but this spot just felt okay at best.
The food itself was decent, but the ingredients didn’t seem very fresh. The bean sprouts had a sour taste, and overall the place didn’t feel that clean. Tables and surfaces were a bit sticky, which threw me off. For the price, I expected a better experience.
The chef was friendly and entertaining, but everything else about the restaurant felt outdated. Even a chain like Benihana feels cleaner and more polished overall.
Honestly, I don’t plan on coming back. It really needs a refresh before I’d even consider giving it another try.

We dined here for my husband’s birthday. We sat at the teppan table with 8 other people. The waiter Ramirio was very attentive in taking our drink orders and entrees orders. Miguel our chef entertained us while cooking our filet and shrimp, and teriyaki chicken and NY steak entrees. Everything tasted great. We liked the soup, rice, grilled veggies and the sherbet desserts. My husband also received a slice of their cheesecake since it was his birthday. Everyone sang Happy Birthday, at the table afterwards, so it was a nice dinner experience.

What an entertaining restaurant. Intimate dining as we were there when they 1st opened. We had the small area to ourselves. The Chef was fun and put on a great show while preparing our food. Food was hot and prepared to order while we watched. First time at a Kobe. Will definitely go again.

It’s always a wonderful teppanyaki grill experience at Kobe Japanese Steak House. The highlight for me and my good friends was watching our food being cooked by a personal chef. Not all chefs are alike so don’t expect the same cooking “template” as each chef add their own flare. Some chefs are more animated than others and may do more extra tricks when grilling food, including the use of their cooking utensils.
My friends and I were greeted by a hostess as we entered the restaurant. Keeping up with the Japanese theme, the hostess was attired in a kimono outfit. The moment you walked in the restaurant, you will already see the Japanese decor and feel the ambience. We had a 7pm dinner reservation but was asked to wait momentarily in the waiting area that had a bar area. Tables and chairs were also readily available for those that were waiting to be seated at a grill.
Overall service from our server was not top notch, semi-attentive, but not terrible. Didn’t check in or was as communicative as I expected. Had waited for our glasses of water to be refilled. This would have been the only minor issue in our dining experience. The chef was friendly, communicative and humorous as most chefs I’ve had in the past should be. It’s all about the entertainment and cooking experience. In this case, food was affordable.

It’s been 25 years since I’ve been to Kobe Steakhouse, and last night was just as amazing as I remember it. The inside is laid out in three areas with three different menus (note that the menus are specific to where you sit, you cannot order from a menu not in your section). Bar seating and a smaller bar menu (that’s not why you come here), sushi menu and sitting at the sushi counter, but most popular hibachi seating with a hibachi menu. While you can totally do the sushi and bar menus, hibachi is the way to go and a total blast regardless of age. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and of course having a good time as they cook on the flat top grill. We got the chicken teriyaki and the teppan shrimp meals which come with a few pieces of shrimp to start, miso soup, sautéed mushrooms/carrots/zucchini/bean sprouts, your main (chicken teriyaki and shrimp for us), ending with the sherbet or green tea ice cream. The green tea ice cream was not as green tea flavored as I would have expected, but good nonetheless. Everything else was great and as expected. Shout out to the fantastic dipping sauces – miso ginger and a spicy mustard soy. Go crazy.
Lovely experience, great food, and thank you for bringing back my core childhood memories I’ve cherished.

I came there last night with my partner for dinner to celebrate our two year anniversary. The Server was rude and basically acted like they wanted us to hurry up and decide on what we wanted to order so we can get started with the group That we were sitting with. We did not know them. So when we finally figured out what it was, we wanted to eat, considering we had never been there before. They start cooking and I had told the cook not to put any shrimp on my plate because I am allergic. So he skipped my plate for that, but then after that, he skipped my plate for vegetables he skipped my plate for rice. We finally had to tell him that I’m the one that ordered that food. Because he was giving it to the person next to me. I will never ever ever be eating here again because the food quality was not good at all. I have been passing this restaurant for 2 1/2 years now wanting to try it because I have heard nothing but good things about it but honestly that restaurant is trash. The employees are trash besides the one nice younger gentleman that helped us out and gave us great information about what things were on the menu since we were having a hard time picking. But no, I will never again eat there or give anybody good advice to eat there because I don’t want them to have a bad experience like I did.
We also had a reservation for 715 and we had to sit and wait for about 20 to 30 minutes to even be able to sit down.

Love the experience everytime. If you come in smaller group sizes they typically will have you wait a few minutes in the bar area while they wait to have enough people on one table. I like that they do it that way because depending on how long the wait is, you can at least grab a drink or maybe some small plates. Last night it was only like a 10 minute wait so we just grabbed a quick drink. They wait staff is always quick to get refills or requested items, the chefs are pretty entertaining. Your typical hibachi experience. Prices seem expensive, but you get a lot of food. Love the spicy garlic fried rice. Very fun and interactive.

Really great food at a beautiful location. I truly wish they were not as expensive as they are. I’ve always refused to pay full price, and gone during early bird/happy hour time. My family tends to eat dinner sometimes a bit early so it’s frustrating that they open later but it’s nonetheless worth it. The staff is always kind. Chefs are always really fun and make delicious food.
