As for the drinks, the quantity of each pour was downright ridiculous. I honestly thought they were waiting for me to taste the drink before giving a full pour but no, you get a measly drop for 120 euros.
Most of the staff seemed more interested in hearing themselves regurgitate their memorised lines instead of attending to our needs. My requests for the pacing to increase were neglected, no one attended to us when we needed the washroom and we were totally ignored when we finished our meal, searching for the exit.
What was supposed to be the highlight of our trip turned out to be a total disappointment. I would not recommend this restaurant at all.
Edit : after lodging a formal complaint the restaurant has apologised and offered a full refund for our meal which is very much appreciated.
A little pricy for lunch, but average I think for a 2 star Michelin restaurant.
We ordered from the A La Carte menu & were surprised with all the snacks in between the meals. Everything was presented and cooked to perfection. The matured sirloin was amazing ! All the meals came out in a timely manner.
The service itself was great and attentive to detail.
This experience was exceptional and I would come back again !
One thing I really appreciated was the presentation: before every dish, we were given a small card with a hint about what was coming next. At the end of the meal, those cards were gathered and handed to me in a beautifully scented envelope — a lovely and memorable touch.
Another highlight was the short tour through the kitchen before dinner. It was a surprise and something I’ve never experienced before — a very personal and engaging start to the evening.
If I could make one suggestion, it would be to inform guests in advance how many dishes are included in the tasting menu. We weren’t too hungry when we arrived and decided to try the full menu anyway, but at some point in the middle, we stopped enjoying the food simply because we were so full and had no idea how many courses were still to come.
Also, the bread portions could be smaller — many guests seemed to leave them almost untouched, which likely leads to unnecessary waste.
Overall, Belcanto is a remarkable restaurant that blends art and cuisine in a truly creative way. Still, while I enjoy inventive flavors and bold combinations, I tend to prefer meals that stay a bit closer to the familiar side. I’m glad I experienced it once — it’s unforgettable — but it’s probably not a place I would return to.
We opted for the standard wine pairing, which proved to be anything but standard — each pour was a thoughtful partner to its dish, never overpowering, always enhancing. And the dishes? Inventive, delicious, sometimes playful, always refined.
The star of the night? For me, it was “The Three Little Pigs” — a dish so good it practically huffed, puffed, and blew my mind. Creative, balanced, and indulgent in the best way, it stood out even among a parade of excellence.
Service was seamless, warm, and professional. No pretense — just a team clearly proud of what they do, and for good reason.
If you’re in Lisbon and debating whether Belcanto is worth the hype — it is. Book the table. Trust the pairing. And whatever you do, don’t underestimate those pigs.
The staff here are pretty exceptional and made us feel right at home. From the start, they clearly described the menu and how to night would run. They were very attentive throughout the evening and ensured they gave us enough space at the same time. We even took a break half way through the meal which they were very accommodating.
The food was fantastic, each dish delivered was very well presented and the flavours were spot on. Not overly complicated but fresh and well balanced.
Lots of fish dishes which we love.
The restaurant itself is stunning, just the right noise level where we didn’t feel like we were in a library and had to whisper like in other restaurants we have been to.
We ended up chatted to the couple beside us who were also enjoying the experience like us.
We will most certainly be back on our next visit to Lisbon.
