Hmmm. We had the private room for a function. Service initially very good but slacked off as the evening wore on. Food is good, but insanely expensive. $140 for a steak? One thing the whole place needs is definitely better noise attenuation. In short, better options elsewhere, and a lot more wallet friendly.

We had an amazing dinner. One of the best dinner experiences my wife and I had in 37 years of marriage. The Head chef Mario visited us at our table. He explained how he prepared our 5 course dinner. Best steak tartare I’ve ever had. Also wonderful foie gras dish. I’m sure they’re full-size steaks are amazing. I just wasn’t that hungry the day I was visiting, but I had cocktails and two appetizers. Their “bread” course is house made French fries with 3 different dipping sauces. Very nice. And they also brought a small amuse bouche before meal and macarons for mini dessert at no charge. Excellent.

I want to share this experience to help others make an informed decision about dining here. My friends and I, all from Texas, decided to escape the cold front by heading to Miami for the weekend. The weather there wasn’t much better, but we made the best of it by playing golf and trying out different restaurants. Most of the places we dined at were great, but someone suggested we try Bourbon Steak, part of Michael Mina’s franchise.

We made a reservation for 9 PM and arrived to find the place extremely busy. After a wait, we got seated and ordered. Being from Texas, we know good steak—we’ve had it at some of the best steakhouses in the world, from Dubai to Europe, Argentina, and, of course, Texas. We ordered the bone-in dry-aged ribeye, expecting a top-tier experience, but it was a disaster. The steak was chewy and tough, nowhere near the quality we expected.

We also ordered sides, including a baked potato, which was equally disappointing. The service, overall, was underwhelming. It was slow, and even getting water took longer than it should have. For a high-class establishment, the pace and attentiveness were not up to par. While the staff wasn’t rude, the level of service simply didn’t match the premium prices we were paying.

We let the manager know what happened, hoping for a reasonable explanation. Unfortunately, the manager couldn’t provide a logical or satisfactory explanation for the poor experience. While they did offer a small discount on the bill, it didn’t make a difference. We had already played 18 holes at West Palm Beach Golf Club, were tired, and were looking forward to a great steak and a satisfying meal. Instead, half of my buddies left hungry.

The experience was incredibly disappointing. A couple of my friends didn’t even bother finishing their meals—they left their plates untouched. For a high-end restaurant with such steep prices, you expect exceptional quality in both food and service. This fell far short.

Take a look at the photos we’ve shared, and you’ll see for yourself. Whether it was due to how busy they were or not, it’s no excuse. For the reputation Michael Mina’s restaurants carry, this was an utter letdown. No matter the explanation, this simply wasn’t supposed to happen.

Terrible, terrible, terrible experience—one I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Extremely upscale but you get what you pay for. The service is always on point. The food is delicious. So far I’ve tried the wagyu short rib and the sea bass which both were super rich and delicious. I’m definitely tell trying a steak next time.

We just had an exceptional dining experience at Bourbon Steak (Aventura, FL). Here are the details:

Australian Wagyu Pastrami Spiced Short Rib (A+): A thing of beauty! So tender, flavorful, and creative. One of the best entrées I’ve had all year; truly memorable!

Certified Angus Rib Cap 8oz (A): A bit on the small size, but very tender and juicy. Very good indeed

Fish & Chips – special of the day (B+): Fortunately, very flaky and light on the batter. Very enjoyable, while not quite at the level of the top-notch versions I’ve had in the UK

Duck-fat Fries (A+): Many consider these fries to be the best in the US, and I’ll second the motion! Incredibly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, paired with some great sauces. Love it!

Black Truffle Mac & Cheese (A-): Very creamy and balanced

Jalapeño Cream of Corn (B+): Great flavor and texture, but I wanted more heat!

Service (A): Amiable and efficient

Ambiance (A): Pleasant understated elegance

We spent $425 for a three-person meal (no alcohol, only water and one mocktail, 3 entrees, 2 sides, no dessert, 20% tip). And we’ll be coming back! A true 5-star experience.

We enjoy Bourbon a couple times a year but religiously on my husbands birthday. This year was extra special because of our server Jason. He was the absolute best we have ever had at this restaurant. True genuine hospitality and went out of his way to make us feel like we were the only table when the place was at full capacity. I typically don’t write a review since it’s always a great experience and honestly what you should receive at this price point but Jason truly is an asset. Please share with him our appreciation for creating a great evening.

We were a group of 6 for NYE at the 8PM second seating. Our two young kids (6 and 8) joined.

Ambiance with the DJ was incredible. Service was very impressive and accommodating.

As for the food, everyone loved it. The shrimp appetizers and peanut butter dessert were sensational.

Mario the Chef and Anibal the Manager were great to us.
