Real Hacienda was one of the best Mexican restaurants we’ve ever been to. That means 29+ years of living on the East and West Coast and still better than almost all.
Hector, the owner, truly has a gem as far as Mexican restaurants are concerned. The staff was unique and sweet, the food was absolutely authentic and amazing, and the atmosphere was great.
It is a place full of flavor, friend, and fun time.
We were hungry after a long long day of driving but we were so grateful to be staying near here. This was a blessing and please come enjoy the dinner here. Highly recommended.

There are a lot of local Mexican restaurants in Terre Haute to pick from, but I would highly recommend checking out Real Hacienda! I went to this Mexican restaurant a few times and always had a fantastic meal. The complimentary chips and salsa hit the spot. I also love the queso dip and the sizzling fajitas. There are plenty of seats inside and at the bar, but the highlight of this spot is the spacious and relaxing patio. Check out Real Hacienda next time you are in Terre Haute!

We stop here every time on our way through the area. Food is excellent and service great. We always sit outside, which is enjoyable. The Fajitas are outstanding – SO much flavor!!

We had a great time at Real hacienda #1 on US 41. Great Mexican atmosphere with nice decorations everywhere. Food was delicious. We got a beef taco and burrito. Chips and salsa were good. The waiters went out of their way to find the soccer game we wanted to watch. All around a pleasant experience

Not a long wait to sit, drinks were even out pretty quickly as well. However, Food was a bit more sporadic. My side of rice & beans came out same time as my husbands burrito, then our daughters meal came out, then finally our sons. The main part of my meal (pictured) took a while to come out. I was almost done with my side & my son was already done with their plate by time my main came out. After seeing it (literally half a pineapple stuffed), it made sense why it took so long but a little communication would have helped. And/or some better planning so all the meals came out closer together & my main & side at the same time.
Mine was good but holy wow the chorizo or ground whatever it in was pretty salty. The pineapple helped counter it but I couldn’t finish it.
This was our first time back in a long while as we were just visiting. Was kind of disappointed to see the interior not as colorful as we remembered, but looked nice regardless.
Restroom (womens at least) could definitely use some rehab as the sink won’t completely shut off and one stall door is pretty busted up.
I guess we can’t complain too much as it was fairly cheap meal for the four us (plus margaritas) compared to many other places.
Overall, decently quick service but could use better communication/coordination with kitchen and tone down the salt maybe. And invest some funds in restroom upgrades/repairs.

Our service was absolutely horrible! They were not very busy, but once seated it took over 10 mins for someone to come to our table. Got our drinks in a fair amount of time and ordered our food. One in our party got part of her food and was able to finish it before the other three got theirs and then she got her side dish after finishing her meal. This was atleast 10 between her meal and ours. Wait staff never even came back to ask if we wanted more drink refills. This was a shame cause we were in town for the weekend and it was highly recommended!
