Very lovely building but the restaurant cuts corners when it comes to using fresh ingredients. The scallops were frozen, as were the vegetables in the curry. The staff were friendly but started clearing dishes before everyone finished their food, which felt quite rude.

A very authentic, cozy thai food restaurant serving starters, mains, and dessert.

We went as a group of 6; initially we had to sit separately as they were quite full, but when an available table opened up the waiters immediately moved us. They were also very patient and kindly explained to us what each dish contained and what they recommended according to our cravings.

The food was lovely – aromatic, temperate, and all our meals were served around the same time. One table next to us ordered Plaa Nueng Giem Buey (steamed fish) which smelled amazing. The crispy prawns had a lovely crunchy exterior and were soft and tender on the inside. The pineapple fried rice was also warm and juicy – we couldn’t get enough of the pineapple juice!

Of note, the prices were on the higher end. Serving sizes were just enough but could be a little more considering the price. The main dishes do not come with a side so rice has to be ordered separately. I’d recommend dining here family style with a few mains so everyone can enjoy a spread of dishes.

Overall, it was an enjoyable and memorable dining experience.

Had such a lovely meal at Chiang Mai Kitchen. Felt somewhat authentic and flavourful. The mango sticky rice was very good – sweet, creamy, and so comforting. I tried their scallops for the first time and was pleasantly surprised – they were fresh, tangy, and really refreshing. The seafood curry was great too, really rich and satisfying.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the crispy prawn noodles, they were a bit too sweet for me – but my friend liked them, so it might just be personal taste. Portions were huge; we couldn’t even finish everything. The calamari was another favourite – light, crispy, and super moreish. Would definitely come back.

Con: The food was too expensive for what it was and I felt that the price doesn’t actually reflect the quality but nonetheless it was tasty overall.

Great Value Thai in Oxford

This restaurant offers good food, generous portions, and a lovely ambience—all at a very fair price. The flavors were enjoyable, and the service was friendly, making it a great spot for a casual meal in the city center. If I’m honest, it’s not the best Thai food you can have, but for the price, it’s definitely worth it. Would happily return!

Food was incredible. We got the neua pad phet (beef with thai curry paste) and the sweet and sour duck. The beef came in a heavenly sauce, it was amazing. The duck was one of the most tender ducks I have ever had, only issue was it was a bit cold. Reservation was easy, waiters were nice. The space is a little dark and small because it’s a historic building.

We ordered several dishes, each one tasting delicious. The sum tum salad, red curry and gai gratiem prik thai were particularly amazing! The presentation of the food was very thoughtful.

The service provided to us throughout our meal was also of top quality. Wouldn’t hesitate to return again.

We ordered green papaya salad, pork Pad kapond and crispy seabass sweet and sour. The taste of papaya salad is normal, but pork pas kapond is really good. Seabass sweet and sour is also good too.
The food are ready in super quick too
Good for asian taste

I hadn’t eaten here in many years but had always loved the food and experience. Unfortunately it’s just not the same place now – it all just felt a bit cheap (though the prices aren’t!).

The service was friendly enough but the food was really quite poor. Our prawn red curry was a starter-sized portion and the prawns themselves lacked quality. Sauce was fine but nothing special. We also ordered from the specials menu, a Drunken Noodle dish. This was marked as extra spicy so we asked to the waiter if they could reduce the spice a bit and he said that was fine. Now, I love spicy food but this was close to inedible, plus the noodles had no real flavour and the chicken was very poor quality.

Paper tablecloths, plastic dip dishes, a text message beforehand to say the card machine wasn’t working so we’d need to bring cash – always looks dodgy.

£65 for a shared starter, some crackers, a very small main, some coconut rice and an inedible spice explosion – no thanks.

Real hidden gem in Oxford. This Thai restaurant had a lot of dishes that you don’t typically see in Thai restaurants in the UK. The lunch menu is good value for money!

We had a reservation for 7 people. We were first seated upstairs, but when our friend arrived and her child briefly got excited for a minute or two, the waitress abruptly forced us downstairs even though we clearly asked to stay where we were. There was absolutely no reason for this, and the way it was handled felt rude and disrespectful from the start.

The downstairs area was freezing. We were told the heater would warm up in 5 minutes, but it never did. We sat there cold for the entire evening, and now my daughter, another friend, and I are all sick as a result.

Service was unacceptable. Our order was taken quickly, but then we were ignored for around 30 minutes. We had to get our own napkins and cutlery from another table, and even share water glasses. Despite this shockingly poor service, we were still charged a £19 service fee.

The first waitress who served us (a Polish woman) was consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional throughout our visit. Her attitude alone was enough to ruin the experience.

This was the first experience here for me and my friends, and it was a very bad one.
