What an experience! The place is decorated beautifully. My friend said it felt very uptown Dallas. Apparently this place is a scratch kitchen; which made it even better. The chips/salsa were tasty- little spicier than I typically like, but I could handle it for a while .
I ordered the Big Dipper tacos and being a quesabirria lover, I would place these in the top 3 best I’ve ever had. Phenomenal flavor, especially the consommé.
My only disappointment is that the rice/beans portions are so tiny. It seemed about 3-4 spoonfuls. Not a big enough issue for me to dock a star, but being that rice and beans are overall such low-priced food items- it would bring a lot more value to your menu and to customers who are paying a premium price at this restaurant to receive a fulfilling portion for the sides. Just my two cents.
I’ll be returning to try more of the menu with my husband soon! God bless yall!
From the moment we walked in, the vibe was upbeat but still relaxed. The decor is stylish with a Southwestern twist, and the outdoor patio with a cozy fire pit made it the perfect spot to unwind. Parking was super easy, there’s plenty of free parking right out front, which is always a plus!
Taylor was both our bartender and server, and she was absolutely fantastic, friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to love what she does.
Now, let’s talk food! This isn’t your typical Mexican spot, it’s more of a Mexican fusion concept with creative twists on the classics. Everything came out hot, fresh, and flavorful. I’m usually a die-hard red salsa person, but their green avocado-based salsa completely won me over….creamy, zesty, and totally addictive.
The portions are modest (so if you want leftovers, go ahead and order an extra dish), but everything we tried was so delicious that not a single bite went to waste, and the cocktails were top-notch, you can tell they use quality ingredients.
All in all, The Neon Cactus delivers on atmosphere, service, and flavor. It’s the kind of place you visit once and immediately start planning your next trip back.
The drinks – the Mezcalita and the Ole Smokey, both were strong and smoked very well .
The chips served along with with 2 salsas were freshly fried and that made all the difference . The salsas too were made from quality and fresh ingredients.
We ordered the the Big Dipper and the Catch of the day – Mahi Mahi and both were made well and from fresh ingredients.
What caught our attention was the sauce with Mahi Mahi which was made from mango puree and made the dish outstanding!
Service was very nice by Ashlay.
The place is completely done up for a fiesta eve . Unfortunately we went in for an early noon lunch, so we missed the vibes and spirit . We plan To come next time for a Friday evening with friends !
Would surely go again.
This place is hands down amazing awesome my to go place for a great meal. Bartenders Nick and Terry make the experience off the chat. They hear you and delivery at ever step.
Now let’s talk about the food, why it’s a Great Mexican Food restaurant!
Tonight Terry was my bartender/server and knocked it out of left field! I felt like a local, someone who has been here for awhile. Now my first dish was Big Dipper tacos. This should be your first dish of you like tacos. You must do the barbacoa deviled eggs, the fact that it’s crispy barbacoa totally makes the deviled eggs another level that you’ve never had!!!
Next, abuela’s quesadilla. OH MY GOSH, THE CONSUMMATE IS THE BOMB! LOOK AT THE PICTURES. Both dishes have it and both dishes delivery at ever level!
