Incredible, as usual. Their tuna remains to be some of the most tender, softest, melt in your mouth cuts I’ve ever had. The Uni was a treat. The only miss was the Kumo roll which was a waste of lobster meat… I would have gone with any other roll tbh. Otherwise, the appetizers were great, especially the fried oysters… The salad and dressing was delicious. Service was fast and friendly, 5*.

Nice place to meet friends, eat and have fun. The hibachi lunch was amazing and I also liked the hot green tea. The place is beautiful with unique modern décor. A bit noisy for business meetings, but good for company with friends. It was also nice to know that they are open on Monday.

We went out for Korean BBQ, but it was closed. So naturally our next choice was close by and not closed. We have had sushi many times, but it was our first time here. Delicious is all I can say!! Everything was well presented and delicious. My picky 15 y/o son even got adventurous and tried a new roll and a piece from everyone’s plate. That alone tells you how good it was!!

I recently dined at Kumo Japanese in Stony Brook for dinner and had a delightful experience. The fried calamari was perfectly crispy and tender, providing a delicious start to the meal. The egg fried rice was flavorful and well-seasoned, complementing the other dishes beautifully. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Kumo signature roll with spicy crab. The combination of fresh ingredients and the kick of spice made it a memorable and satisfying sushi choice. The service was attentive, and the ambiance was cozy.

I knocked a star off for the service… At this price level things should pretty much be spot on. Drinks shouldn’t run down to empty. As hot as the hibachi was served… the steak, lobster, scallops and shrimp and everything else on the plate was anywhere from luke warm to cold by the time the server got the dipping sauces to the table. For a plate that was upwards of 40$ that is unacceptable. Don’t know whether it was forgotten or what… Other tables were being helped while we were still waiting on the main meal to be fully served… It’s dipping sauce for the meal… You shouldn’t be waiting 10 minutes for it. They can do better… It’s a good place overall… Just need the manager to be more involved with the wait staff, did not see one around the entire time. The staff was courteous and pleasant and working hard but the Manager being more involved would have definitely spotted things happening or not happening and corrected any possible problems before happening. Manager… You have good people… But they need leadership.

We had 2 parties here that were perfect. Staff is amazing, very helpful and polite. Food is always delicious and nice portion. Hubby and I have been here over 10 times without any complaints. We highly recommend!

Nice place for sushi. They have omakase bar too but I just sat at a table. This place is really busy but food was served really fast! I was surprised. And taste was good too. Price was reasonable. I really liked it.

I’m giving Kumo a five for three reasons.
1: long time customer
2: have done birthdays and celebrations here
3: the sushi, hibachi, drinks, staff, and sushi chefs are exceptional.
The chandeliers and the decor are wonderful.
Having the music playing and sports on the tv’s is a plus.
A couple of pet peeves:
1: I wish it was a little brighter. Lights are dim.
2: the spicy tuna recipe has been changed in the last year and is a little disappointing.
I usually order the tri color sashimi. The freshness of the fish is appreciated and I never get bad smelling sashimi because the sushi chefs are professionals.
Overall though Kumo gets five stars.

The place is cool with family and friends. The Chiefs are entertaining and quick. The food tastes great and throw some surprises at you!
