We visited this location based on the reviews, and it was definitely worth a try. The crispy garlic naan was excellent, and the malai kofta was equally delicious. The masala dosa was also quite good.
One thing to note: they place bottled water on the tables, but it’s not complimentary—there’s a charge if you open it.
Service was good throughout our visit. We came for dinner, but they also offer a lunch buffet which we’d be interested in trying next time.

A Taste of Authentic Indian Cuisine in the Heart of Delaware
Godavari Delaware has completely redefined what I expect from Indian cuisine. From the moment you walk in, the aromatic spices and warm welcome set the perfect tone for what’s to come.

Fish fry was awesome, perfect mixture of spices. The Lamb Biryani deserves a special mention – each grain of rice is infused with flavor, and the meat is so tender it practically melts in your mouth.

The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They’re happy to guide you through spice levels and make recommendations based on your preferences.

Prices are surprisingly reasonable ($14-20 for mains), and the portions are generous enough to share or take home. They’ve got great lunch specials as well.

The service was OK OK. Whether you’re an Indian food enthusiast or new to the cuisine, Godavari Delaware is definitely worth checking out.

Excellent food and fresh and tasty. Every dish we had was really delicious. Biryanis were well cooked, mutton ghee roast was the best with right amounts of spices and their gongura shrimp curry was the best I’ve had recently. Not just the taste the quantity of each item was good and the food is not too expensive(probably I am comparing it with bigger city prices). But felt good paying less for such delicious meal.

The food here is amazing, but the service is not so much. However, I rated this place 5/5 for the quality of food and the value you get for the price. I have been to a couple of restaurants, but this is my go-to for takeout. Their biryani is hands down the best, and their non-veg appetizers and Indo-Chinese dishes are to die for. If you’re like me—a working professional who doesn’t like to eat out but sometimes doesn’t have time to prepare anything—then you should absolutely order their family pack meals. I order their family boneless biryani once a month, and the quality and quantity of food you get is unreal. I can eat that for at least 5-6 meals. I also don’t mind eating the same thing every day, making it a great value for families. Additionally, they include a non-veg appetizer and a dessert complimentary with their family meals. I almost feel like I should keep this secret to myself, but give them a try—you won’t be disappointed.

My friends and I went to this place after hearing good reviews. The server was prompt in taking orders. We ordered Chicken biryani, veg biryani, chicken 65, chilly paneer, veg Manchurian, chilly cheese dosa, some other dosa I forgot the name ( server recommended us ). Please dont order any paneer items not worth it. Dosas were good but the sambhar was too oily. Will definitely recommend biryani and chicken 65. We also ordered butter milk but were never served and later on we were told it might take some time since they were understaffed, well either you dont take the order or simply say you dont have it.
Overall not a very good experience but still would recommend this place if you like south indian dishes like biryani, tandoori chicken, chicken 65 etc.

Atmosphere was good, at the time I went it was just 3 tables sitting having dinner.
The service, slow, the server seemed busy with other work and delayed at times. Food, my upma lacked ingredients, the mirch (chilies) where not the traditional Thai chili (green) they put the dry red chilies, which are cheaper, lacked peanuts which goes in upma. Tasted okay, more on the salty side. Masala dosa was good, the sambhar was not good, I tasted it and left it. No vegetables on the sambhar!!!! It was too dark and sweet. The other chutneys, very watery… tomato and coconut chutney, very little, they don’t give it in a proper container to eat there, they give it to you in a to go container! Lacks goods ingredients. My rate 3 points.

Non vegetarian dishes are awesome. One of the best biryani in east coast. I tried multiple restaurants in nj, ny, pa, md etc, but this is best place for biryani lovers.

Biryani is value for money. They will provide huge quality, two persons can eat it. Both chicken and goat biryani are awesome, authentic Hyderabad biryani taste. Tandoori chicken, kingfisher spl chicken, chilly chicken all are awesome. I think, they are imported spl masalas from India. Kingfisher spl chicken masala is remembered my childhood memories, we loved it.

Vegetarian dishes are not up to the mark. But again panner biryani is awesome. I tried very less numbers of vegetarian dishes, all are ok level. One star decreased for veg dishes and ambiance

Visited Godavari Restaurant this week.
This time we tried fried crispy corn(Appetizer ) which was very good. Met all expectations like spice levels, crispiness etc. Rest of the items are too good as well and there is nothing to complain. Moreover service by Mansoor was awesome. He always stops by customers and asks if food is as expected or not. Anytime if you think food is not hot or not as expected you can feel free to tell them and they are happy to replace. Amul who took our initial order is also very nice and one of the best guy in Godavari from service point of view.

I had a very disappointing experience at Godavari Delaware. I ordered the mutton biryani, and unfortunately, all the meat pieces were extremely hard, dark in color, and nearly impossible to chew. When I raised my concern with the manager, he simply responded that “all mutton pieces are hard” and mentioned that this is how they prepare it.

Honestly, it felt like the biryani — both the rice and the meat — was leftover from the previous day and reheated before being served. The portion size was also noticeably small for the price.

I sincerely hope the restaurant management and owner will take this feedback seriously and consider improving both the quality of the meat and the overall portion sizes. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone planning to enjoy biryani here.

I’ve attached photos for reference.
