Return to the place where memories are made. With locations in Medina, Middleburg Heights, and Streetsboro, Ohio, Girves Brown Derby restaurants are as memorable as they always were. Our family-owned steakhouse knows where the sizzle comes from: the steak. We start with the finest hand-selected cuts of USDA prime and choice meat. There are a variety of cuts to please every palate, from a 9-ounce sirloin to 22-ounce Porterhouse. Then we wet age it for days to heighten the maximum flavor. Beef this good deserves a thoughtful, cooking method, so we prepare our exceptional wood fired steaks over a grill with a fire made from hardwoods.
This smart restaurant & bar with a sizable wine list offers steaks, seafood & other classic fare.

2:30 Saturday wife order 8oz sirloin Medium and I ordered to 12 oz Top sirloin Medium. Her was way overcooked I’d say Med-Well to Well done. I switched with her to keep her happy. The 8 oz was tougher than a tire. Sweet potato was burnt. Broccoli and rice were great. Who knows maybe I came at an off time or they have a new cook in training or something. Although my dogs are very happy to take the leftover steak.

The food was good, not great, and overpriced for what we got. The lobster tail was decently sized and tasty, but the porterhouse was thin, which also makes it easy to overcook, which it was slightly. The steak was seasoned well but had a lot of fat/gristle… the grilled asparagus was great. The little cup of butter that came with the lobster tail doesn’t taste like real butter but rather a cheap “margarine” or movie theater butter type substitute. For the prices they charge, that was a bit of a let down. The server was nice enough but nothing to write home about, and didn’t seem to know enough about the menu to make recommendations.
The dessert (toffee cake) was delicious.
I’ve had much better value for a lower price at other restaurants. Bigger and better steaks and better service for about 50-75% of the cost of brown derby. I would come back if there were fewer options, but there are plenty of other places I’d feel better spending my dollar. I’d probably go to Texas Roadhouse before I came back here.
Had the prices been more reasonable, the food a bit higher quality and the service a bit better, this place could have easily been a 4-4.5 out of 5. If they made some changes I’d give them another shot.

First time here. Really nice inside. My steak was tasty and cooked as ordered. My wifes steak however was ordered medium and was really well done and not appealing at all. Our attentive waitress Leslie noticed my wife was not happy and the steak was removed from the bill. The green fried tomatoes, salad, Mexican street corn, sweet potato were all excellent. We will be back.
8/14/25 Finally made it back with friends. Everyone loved their meals! Give it a try!

We reserved the library room for our office party. We had a blast and loved our own private space. Food and staff were amazing.

Under cooked fried pickles, dirty glasses and not just spots, caked on old food. Steaks were supposed to be medium well but were completely well done, and salad was brown a gross. Plus the spider playing on its web on our booth really made it look like they don’t get wiped down much.

We had a terrific experience for dinner. Everyone that we encountered was so warm and friendly and made us feel tremendously welcome. The food was wonderful and we truly enjoyed ourselves as a family after an incredibly stressful week. The staff tonight helped make our family date night extra special and we are truly grateful! We can’t wait to come back!

We chose this restaurant for Valentine’s Day and were very disappointed. For a special occasion and the price we paid, the experience felt careless from start to finish.
The ribs had a strange plasticky taste, almost like freezer burn mixed with heated plastic, which made them inedible. The steak was ordered medium rare but arrived closer to medium well. The entire meal was barely warm, not just the steak.
The sides were just as frustrating. The loaded baked potato cost extra for toppings, yet they were added to only half of the potato. The mushrooms and onions that were supposed to be sautéed came on the side and looked and felt more like they had been boiled. The buns were fine, but the honey butter seemed frozen or poorly defrosted and crumbly, so it would not spread.
The “bottomless salad” was a very small bowl of mostly yellow iceberg lettuce with two cucumber slices, two cherry tomatoes, and a heavy amount of red onion. No refill was ever offered. The plates were simply taken away.
Overall, nothing tasted fresh, and for the amount of money spent on a Valentine’s Day dinner, this was extremely disappointing. I would not return and cannot recommend this restaurant.

Went for a work party. I ordered the chicken tender Caesar salad- it was absolutely fantastic! Everyone else ordered steaks, which were polished off quickly, so I can only assume those were good, as well. We also had onion straws (enough to feed about 10 people), stuffed mushrooms (possibly the best I have ever had), and calamari (delicious). Our server was very friendly, and the restaurant was clean. Very nice dining experience.

They were busy on a Saturday night, and we were not in a hurry. We were celebrating a few things. (However, I felt like we were a pain to our server.) It is a loud atmosphere. The food was AMAZING! My filet was, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. We will definitely be back.

We were there with a party of 10, We were seated in the library which was very nice and private. The service was excellent and I would say 80 % of the food was excellent. The two 1 lb T-bones were very fatty and we will not ordering them again.
