The food is super authentic. Rich, bold flavors… perfectly balanced spices… and that creamy texture you only get when it’s done right.
The curry was incredible — tender shrimp and mussels swimming in a buttery, sauce that I could’ve eaten with a spoon. The mushroom curry had that deep, slow-cooked flavor that tells you it wasn’t rushed. Real comfort food.

Service is OK, host was unenthused. But serve staff was friendly and helpful.
Pepper chicken starter was good, so was the butter chicken. But the naan could use an upgrade – that was way too thick and low quality bread.
Ambiance and environment in the strip mall is OK. I don’t see why this has such great reviews, besides the fact that there just simply aren’t many other Indian restaurants around

Authentic food and generous portions were well appreciated.
Service seemed a little clumsy; so did the interior.
You wouldn’t feel like you are sitting in a proper table service restaurant. Doesn’t feel like a hole in the wall place either. It was confusing as to how to vibe with this place.
Mixed grill platter was delicious and generous.
Will order for take out for future visits.

Visiting out of town and thought of having some warm and comfort Indian food and came across this restaurant. Even though I was staying in Tampa it was 25 mins drive but I took a chance. When I reached the restaurant for first 10 mins no one showed up to the table; then came the water and again cone of silence. In short I ordered Goat Eagan Josh medium with Lacy’s paratha. After taking few bites the meat was uncooked and hard. When the waiter came after 15 mins of serving to ask me I showed him. He went inside and said the cook wants it back to he can re-do the dish; I said WHAT now, you going to make this again….No way and then came back and said well sometimes mistakes happen without offering can we make the fresh one and compensate with something else though I wasn’t asking. Well not sure how they serving other people with this kind of service and food. Sharing pics. I won’t recommend anyone to go here. I left the entire dish and left

Food was great, but the service was not. We ordered 3 basic dishes and an appetizer, while there were only a few other folks in the restaurant.
Waited over an hour for our meals, as multiple other patrons sat, ordered, ate and left in the time we were waiting.
I asked our waiter how long our food would be because it’d been over an hour, he said he would check and then never came back to let us know. I ended up asking the front desk and they apologized but didn’t give an estimate or offer anything to us.
Our waiter said the food took a while because of the lamb biryani, but other people who came in after us also ordered biryani and received it sooner. Also, he could have mentioned it would take a while when we ordered, or at least been attentive and updated us while we waited.
Then at the end of the meal, we asked if we could split the check evenly three ways, and he said he’d be charging us an extra $25 fee each. It was a “joke” in really poor taste given how impersonal the service had been so far, and how visibly annoyed we were already lol.
Really frustrating and disappointing experience as a customer. But if you don’t care about good service, then I’d recommend since the food was good.

Lajawab is an excellent choice for Indian food in St Pete. The food is absolutely delicious, portions are very generous, prices reasonable, and our server Bobi was fantastic. We made a reservation for eight people in advance and our table was ready when we arrived. We ordered saag paneer, naan and tandoori chicken and everyone’s order came exactly as requested! We left here extremely full and happy. Despite being packed on a Saturday night, our whole experience was awesome. Lajawab is conveniently located in a strip mall about halfway between downtown St Pete and Clearwater.

If you like authentic Indian food, you MUST come to Lajawab. Locally owned and operated. Excellent service. I will dream about the cream cheese garlic naan forever. Butter chicken was also DELISH! We tried an authentic Indian dessert too and it was so yummy.

I absolutely love this place! 10 out of 10 for food! I try something new every time I come, and I’m never disappointed. The samosa chaat is like Indian nachos, hot crispy shell with delicious filling topped with cool raita, warm chickpeas, tomatoes and chutney. Yum! The butter chicken is a standard staple done to perfection! And don’t miss out on the curry mushrooms! I also always way over order so that I can have enough leftovers for a couple of meals . It reheats beautifully. Love, love, love this food!

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. I would reccomend the butter chicken and shrimp mango masala. The servers are very professional, friendly, and welcoming. The staff are happy to offer recommendations and adjust the spice levels of the food. Overall, great experience.
