We had a really good meal at The Half Shell. Started with the open-faced tuna tacos appetizer, which were fresh and well done. For dinner we had the crab cakes, crab BLT, and grilled shrimp, all served with sidewinder fries and a variety of dipping sauces. Everything tasted great and was nicely portioned.
Cassie was our server and did a solid job—friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We also tried the drink of the day, the Mistletoe Martini, made with gin, elderflower, and cranberry. We went with gin and it was a good choice.
Overall, a good experience with good food and service.

Visiting here for the first time from Ohio. Excellent place our food was amazing. Raw oysters were incredible.cassi our Server was very professional and made us feel very welcome. Great Job Half Shell!!!

The service and outside patio was fantastic. Even though the ceviche, my shrimp and grits, and my wife’s Mahi were great, the flounder was very bland. Overall it was a great experience and the food was good. Will definitely come back for the grits.

– Ceviche portion size was small and there was a lot of lettuce which seemed to be in there to make the dish seem larger

Hostess was incredible handling multiple functions all with a smile. We were quoted 30 minutes and it was spot on.
Our server Kelsie was perfect…we never waited or needed to track her down.
FOOD—first time my wife has ever said…”be sure to get the leftover slaw” it was incredible and an extremely close second to the BACON wrapped green beans…what a hit but no leftovers. My flounder was perfectly cooked and her shrimp was excellent. At $13 a DZ the oysters were the best value I’ve seen in a full service restaurant…especially the size and flavor…they were devoured.
With a full restaurant and a 30+ minute wait the cook time was 13 minutes…WOW!
We had a great time and LOVED every part of our lunch.
Excellent food and great service…Job well done! We will be back!!!

Half Shell was perfect for us wrapping up our beach trip. All the food looked so good it was hard to decide what to choose. After the waitress’s recommendation I got the crab cakes with bacon wrapped green beans and sweet potato fries. My friend got the crab cake BLT with grits and crab bisque. My recommendation: get the crab cakes and for sure the green beans and I enjoyed the grits too! We wrapped up with the gooey cake and my friend loved it too. I was pleasantly surprised with the portions. And like I said there are a lot of options that I think would please anyone. I think this is one of the top places to go in St. Simons.

When we went they were having an anniversary special…. St. James River dozen oysters for $13…. Great deal. I had the tuna tacos. My husband had pull and eat shrimp and a crab cake. Everything was delicious. Our server was lovely, efficient, and put up with some weird orders for my child.

This is definitely a place we will return to. It’s just a shame we don’t live in this area. We were just driving through. I had their strawberry and mandarin orange salad. Remove the cheese to make it plant-based and had sweet potato fries. My husband had the oysters which he absolutely loved. He had the catch of the day which was flounder. He said it was absolutely amazing. He is real picky about his grits and this restaurant it’s a must have.

The half shell is a great place to get seafood in st Simon’s! The oysters were very good as well as the different fried platters. The outdoor area was nice even in the winter with the heaters. Great location in the middle of downtown and would definitely go back!

I had the pleasure of dinning with Chelsea. She was AMAZING. She had top notch recommendations. Her demeanor was fun and bubbly, very welcoming. If you’re looking for great seafood and better company, dine here and do it with Chelsea. It’s literally a lifetime opportunity, maybe even life changing!
