Modest local Mexican, Tex-Mex & breakfast go-to with a variety of margaritas & a casual vibe.

I brought my family to La Cabana because I already knew what to expect — great chips and salsa, solid Mexican food, and attentive service. It’s a dependable, family-friendly Mexican restaurant in Houston.
Our server stayed on point, kept the drinks full, and checked on us consistently. The food came out hot and fresh, and I appreciate when plates stay hot throughout the meal — that always makes a difference.
Everything was good and well-prepared, though the flavor didn’t quite have that wow factor that separates good from unforgettable. The background music fit the vibe and made the overall experience enjoyable.
If you’re looking for hot, fresh Mexican food in Houston with strong service and a comfortable atmosphere, La Cabana is a reliable choice.

Stop by for a quick lunch today (1/6/2026). the place looked nice and was very clean. Very few people. My server was Wendy and she was very nice and easy on the eyes. She answered all my questions about the items in the menu. I am a picky eater, and I order the chicken flautas, they were very good. I will return another day after work to check the drinks at the Bar.

I ride past this restaurant quite a bit. Someday’s it’s really packed and today it wasn’t, so I stopped in. I was skeptical once I entered. It had a old dirty mop odor mixed with incense. I ordered the classic magarita for my drink. Happy hour is from 3p-6p Monday through Friday. Therefore, I was right on time. The salsa was good which is a plus. They only give the red one which is fine. The Combination Fiesta was really good. Steak nachos, steak quesadillas, chicken flauntas, and toppings (sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes). Glad I visited and will be returning.

The salsa was warm. The Chile Rellano wasn’t good, the sauce was weird. The ribeye tacos were fine, there was no seasoning. The grilled steak and shrimp were grilled well but again, no seasoning. Maybe it’s what Texas Mexican food is supposed to taste like. I’m from Arizona, I’m used to something different.

Food was hot and fresh. Food was delicious and salsa was the best I’ve ever tasted. Cooks doing an amazing job. My waitress was amazing. Drove 80 miles to try the food and it was worth it.

Tried this restaurant for the first time, and the environment is nice, and staff was very friendly.
Score right away for warm chips & Salsa!
We tried the margaritas and those were good too!
Had the chicken and beef fajitas, along with their tortilla soup.
Fajitas were pretty good and that soup’s flavor was totally on point. I like all the veggies in it, but I just wished they weren’t so overcooked.
We’ll be back, they have a great menu of things I’d like to try…

This was the best mexican food we have had in a while. If your in the area don’t pass it up. Margaritas were awesome and the taco soup plate was very good. Warm salsa was delicious and or waitress was outstanding!

Nice little place with good food and service. Stopped by with a friend while in the area because the reviews are good. I was happy with the taste of the food and service. It was a bit warm inside though. On a summer day, a little cooler would’ve been nice. Anyway, the service was nice. Ordered a Parrillada for 1 and it was a nice amount of food for 2 folks.
Oh and what I really loved was the salsa they serve with the chips! It’s was great. I love salsa and this one was delicious and spicy. Love spicy!
Overall, definitely recommend this place. The prices are reasonable/moderate. Also, you can pay with your phone via a QR code.

Delicious food and margaritas. Everything was perfect and came out so fast. Salsa could use more heat but very good flavor. Definitely will be my go to place from now on.

Food is okay for me, I can’t say it’s great cos I’m not really into Mexican food but thought I try. I ordered from their “Today’s Specials.”
They don’t have a alcoholic drinks list. Just photos of different kinds of cocktails without any prices. When asked why, they said it’s just like that for most Mexican restaurants.
I don’t like to order food or drinks without knowing the prices so I had to keep asking how much is this and that. So that part sucks.
