We used to visit here every Sunday evening, then the food quality started to slip. Thought I’d give them another try tonight. Chicken sandwich was not even edible. Tiny chicken breast that didn’t even cover the bun, and it was so over fried that it was chewy and parts of it I literally could not bite. With so many chicken spots in Liberty, I’d pass this one on by.

Stayed at the hotel next-door and walked over the food was served right away. I got it to go and it was like I ordered and it was hot when I got back to my room. I ordered two of the sauces the barbecue and the honey mustard. They were both good and I got the chick box the three chicken strips with french fries and garlic bread.

This is a decent place to eat at, so don’t take my review as a common experience. I’m really just posting this because I can upload photos of a sandwich I received. On this particular night (9/23/25 at 8:35pm) I got the cayenne ranch chicken sandwich meal. The onions are usually fried strings but I got them in big slices, I could only finish half of it. Kinda ruined my dinner, the batter they use for the onions was still wet.
I busted my ass in the rain at work today.. just wanted to treat myself. So yeah, I’m a little salty about it.

Thought we would try this instead of the chicken tender place around the corner. First if all, we were kinda concerned that at 12:15, the place was pretty empty. I ordered a 4 piece meal, but asked for something besides fries, which the menu says choice of side. I asked for slaw, she said they no longer have that. Then I asked if I could get a side salad. (I’d seen that option on their online menu.)She said sure and that’s what I ordered. Got our food, strips and his fries were fresh and hot, toast was good, but the salad was NOT fresh. When we got home,my husband noticed that we were charged for the salad and the meal price was the same. If it was an upcharge, she should have told us. Will stick w Raising Cains!!!!

Here’s aI recently visited Slim Chickens and had a pretty mixed experience. I always try to give places a fair shot, especially when they have a good reputation for fresh food and variety. I will say upfront — the food was fresh. You can tell it wasn’t sitting under a heat lamp all day. The chicken was hot, the fries were crisp, and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. So credit where it’s due on freshness and speed of service.
However, the biggest issue for me was the lack of seasoning on the chicken itself. The chicken tasted like it was cooked plain, with no real seasoning or flavor in the breading. It felt like they rely heavily on their sauces to carry the flavor instead of properly seasoning the meat. Without sauce, the chicken is honestly pretty bland. It almost feels like you’re eating naked cooked chicken that’s just been fried and then covered in sauce afterward. If you’re someone who loves bold, well-seasoned chicken straight out of the fryer, this might disappoint you.
The sauces are definitely doing the heavy lifting here. Once you dip the chicken, it tastes better — but that shouldn’t be the only way the food has flavor. A good chicken spot should have seasoning built into the breading and the meat, not just depend on sauce options. If you forget to grab sauce or don’t use much of it, you’re left with something that tastes pretty plain.
The sides were decent. The fries were fresh and crispy, and the toast was okay. Nothing over-the-top amazing, but solid. The overall presentation was clean, and the restaurant itself was neat and organized. Staff was polite and the service was fine — no complaints there.
Overall, I’d say Slim Chickens is average. Fresh food and good sauce options, but the chicken itself needs better seasoning. If they stepped up the flavor in the breading and didn’t rely so much on sauce, it could easily be a much stronger spot. As it stands, it’s okay — just not something I’d crave unless I specifically wanted the sauces.
I’d probably rate it around a 6 or 7 out of 10. Fresh, yes. Flavorful on its own? Not really.

Great food overall. The fried pickles were OUTSTANDING.
The slim’s meal was good. I got the gravy and slims sauce with it. The chicken was great, fries were a little below average, and the slim sauce was awesome. The gravy wasn’t the greatest in my opinion. It was pretty watery and not as flavorful as I hoped.
My wife loved her wrap, but didn’t like the fries very much.
The Mac and cheese was good.
The fried pickles were some of the best we’ve had. We both loved them.
Something we like about here is the jar desserts as well. You get to keep the jar, but the desserts are all a perfect treat.
It is a bit pricey, but overall, a great meal.

Excellent! I’d heard mixed reviews and have to say… it was worth every penny! The chicken was hot and fresh, perfectly prepared! The fries and Texas Toast were nothing less than perfection! The facility wasn’t crowded and the food was prepared immediately! Great in and out lunch! The kids loved the chicken and ate their entire meals…. well be back, for sure!

I took my family in last night to eat dinner on Halloween a bit before 8 o’clock. The food was not what I expected at all at first, the frys were cold the chicken was too. I talked to Kristin the manager working last night and she went above and beyond to make it right. She cooked all of our food fresh which was absolutely incredible. Also gave us some coupons to use next time we come in and also threw in a free desert jar! Thank you for taking care of us and actually caring for a customer! Slims ya dont pay that lady enough!

I had a pickup order about a week ago and when i got home the family size Mac and Cheese was missing and the chicken tenders were cold and rubbery. Was unable to drive back to the store as it was a ways away and people at home were hungry. I filled out the online survey they sent and selected that i wanted someone from the store to contact me but they never did. I figured after a week of no contact i would write this review. My family and i usually go to Cains and thought we would give this place a 2nd chance after having a bad experience 4 years ago. I should have just never returned. I will not go back here and will happily tell people why.

For my first time ever trying Slim Chickens, I think my initial warning sign I was about to be disappointed was driving up to a near empty parking lot, and then was the sole driver in the drive-thru.
I was immediately greeted by a friendly voice offering me one of their new items to which I politely declined. I put in a simple two item order and then was again offered another item to which I declined and was told to pull up to the window to pay.
I sat at the window for a good five minutes before anyone appeared. They ran my credit card and I sat for another few minutes and the food was handed over.
A short ten minutes later I get home an begin trying the spicy chicken tenders which appear to have just been dunked in a spicy seasoning and were on the dry side. For the mac and cheese with chicken bowl, it was a major improvement but still not good enough to warrant a return visit. All in all for something I had high hopes for I was severely underwhelmed with the entire experience.
