I’ll start with the design — the place is absolutely beautiful and filled with positive energy. Everyone there was so friendly, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which I really liked, and the Louisiana soup, which wasn’t quite my favorite, but overall, it was a lovely experience.

Nothing like a little southern comfort in the heart of State College. You felt the welcoming and inviting southern hospitality as soon as you walked in. Not only were the servers polite and kind, but the food was also magnificent. As you would expect, many dishes offered southern staples such as grits and fried foods. We shared the buttermilk biscuits to start. The biscuits were golden brown with a crunchy crust on the outside and were soft and fluffy on the inside. The buttery aroma made these treats comforting, warm, and inviting. For my main, I had Mama’s Sunday Short Rib. The generous portion of succulent ribs had a deep, savory flavor and were complemented with velvety smooth mashed potatoes and vibrant green asparagus spears. Y’all need to come on over to enjoy a great southern dining experience.

Wow, we ate their last evening after having a test done at Geisinger Penn State. What a great find the atmosphere was fabulous from the seating by a fireplace to the most comfortable and stylish chairs. I can’t say enough! I had the most amazing Basil sour cocktail with Jamison, egg, white foam, and a drizzle of bitters to die for. Our meals were perfection and the Desserts, outstanding! What a diamond In the rough so to speak. Classy, sophisticated, Excellent service, Entrées, side, dishes, desserts, that You would not expect in this college town. Kudos to George For making us feel at home, welcome and went out of His way to be observe and make our dining experience the best!

This was my second trip to Gigis for brunch! Last time I had the chicken and waffles and this time I had the bananas fosters French toast! The chicken and waffles from last time was so much food I needed to take it home in a box! The bananas foster French toast was also a very large portion! It was really good! Everytime I have come for brunch I’ve been impressed! I will definitely be returning soon to give dinner a try! I enjoy how intimate the restaurant is, and I really like the staff and how welcoming they are!

We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches and unfortunately, they had a very bad taste and smell. We couldn’t eat them at all—you can see from the picture that the food was untouched. Despite this, we were still charged for the meals. Very disappointed with the quality and service.

In 2025 I dined at Gigi’s twice. Both times I ordered the Shrimp Carbonara. Both times 5 star. This past weekend (March 1st) I dined at Gigi’s and was very disappointed in the Shrimp Carbonara. The shrimp was blackened, way overdone, tough. The pasta was no longer Bucatini, but now linguine. Truly a disappointment. We ordered the biscuits which were yummie. My experience this trip was so sad, it will be a long time before I go back.

I’ve noticed Gigi’s has had some rough reviews lately. This was a go to place for me but I haven’t had the chance to go back in a while. Wanted to see if the negative reviews were justified. I would disagree. Had and awesome experience! The food was great! The fried green tomato bruschetta was excellent. The lobster roll was delicious! The burger with onion jam and pimento cheese is a must! The staff was excellent, the wait time in between was perfect. And the dessert was excellent as well. No complaints here! Gigi’s will stay in my rotation of restaurants in state college. Would highly recommend going if you haven’t yet.
