5/5 Stars – Best Salmon Teriyaki in Seattle!
Just picked up the grilled salmon teriyaki from Grillbird (West Seattle location), and wow—what a standout dish! The 8 oz salmon fillet was charred to perfection on the grill with those beautiful grill marks, then glazed with their miso-teriyaki sauce that’s rich, savory, and not overly sweet. It’s got that addictive umami depth without being gloopy like some places.
Topped with fresh scallion-ginger relish and green onions for a bright, zingy kick, and served over a generous bed of shredded cabbage that’s lightly dressed and still super crisp. The rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked—classic Seattle teriyaki style but elevated with fresher, cleaner ingredients.
Portions are solid (this filled me up without feeling heavy), everything tasted super fresh, and it’s all gluten-free which is a huge plus. Grabbed it to-go and ate in the car—still one of the best meals I’ve had on the go in ages.
Grillbird nails the modern twist on Seattle teriyaki: quality protein, killer sauce, and thoughtful sides. Hands down my new favorite spot for salmon or chicken teriyaki. Will be back soon—highly recommend!

If you’re in West Seattle or near Phinney Ridge, do yourself a favor and try the salmon. You won’t regret it!

Got the spicy garlic and chicken teriyaki plate with cabbage, spring rolls, cucumber salad. Would highly recommend the proteins and cucumber salad. I’d try something new regarding the cabbage and spring rolls. Will definitely be coming back

They don’t have sit-in dining, but the food is reasonably priced for a lot of food. I love how juicy the five spiced braised beef is. The fried chicken and cauliflower are cooked well, the teriyaki has a nice char, and the sauces are great. Definitely recommend for takeout!

Grillbird is my family’s fave teriyaki joint. Full. Stop. The mobile app is really well done- so easy to order. They also have a rewards point system that knocks off a few bucks when redeemed- very cool. If you order from the counter- very similar experience with their kiosk…or always a friendly soul to take your order from behind the counter if they aren’t too busy. Clean, bright interior – no room for dining.
The standard go-tos for us (fam of six) is: bang bang chicken, teriyaki, sesame and soba noodles- all with sides of brown and white rice. The katsu is also worthy in the rotation. Would love to try the burger at some point, but the teriyaki is sooo good. Pro-tip: this is Hawaiian style, so if you’re looking for the lettuce on the side like most Seattle joints you’re gonna be disappointed. However, order the cabbage (which is great- finely shredded) and the rice. Provides great texture and ruffage.
Overall, we eat here a lot and almost every item on the menu has been a hit. The mobile app makes it SO convenient to order.

Dream about this place! The chicken teriyaki is my favorite but everything was so damn good, that the photo had to wait. The Mac salad is the best I’ve ever had, happy I found this place, thank you

The food is all SO fresh and good! Love the greens and cucumber salad and all the proteins. Generous portions which is so nice when you live with raccoons (aka teenagers). Had an issue with getting the wrong item tonight and the staff was so helpful and gracious about fixing it. Order ahead as they do get busy!

Such a fantastic spot. Great service, good people, and terrific food. Their staff puts in the extra work to make some truly exceptional teriyaki. A West Seattle gem.
In addition, their sandwiches are an amazing value and absolutely delicious!

This place was really good. It is small inside but the employees are very professional and nice. They seemed to be really on it. It was pretty busy when we went. Food came out hot and really good. The only part that was annoying was the parking situation. I suggest street parking and then just walk over. The lot seems big but can get hectic especially when its busy. Will be back again

The fried stuff was fine, but the meat had inconsistent texture with some of it being gd & some bit on the overcooked/dryer side (& i wldnt have rly called the beef steak vs a lower cost cut that had maybe bn slowcooked tho not sure since it wasn’t quite as tender as that ususally yields..) the cabbage was served raw vs steamed (which tho healthier def easier/less tasty, agn tho some ppl may prefer that, but wlda bn nice to have bn given the option) & rice was mushy/pasty/overcooked …regular beef teriyaki is usually not supposed2 b spicy, but is here-so just a heads up for those who dont want/cant have spicy stuff (since the menu doesn’t indicate any heat & it should..it even had red hot peppers & seeds on top..agn, some may enjoy that so gd4them ofc, just shld b listed properly esp whn its not common/expected for that dish) …sauces were hit n miss, some ok n some way too much vinegar evn whn it shouldn’t have (like for example a gyoza dipping sauce shld b soy/garlicy vs a salad dressing) …the fried cauliflower was gd n they did have a nice selection of drink options with some unique ones u dont see elsewhere. Staff was nice enuf & evn tho we only ordered 1 combo plate to share the order did seem like it was done at a reasonable speed, plave was clean enuf, they have nice but vry small & no seating (or bathrooms that i saw, but mighta missed), & they did have a nice display screen for order progress, & tho small they did have a designated parking lot.

The food is consistently good! I would enjoy my chicken a little more charred and with a little less sauce, but that’s only personal preference. The flavor is always amazing. I like their kiosk for ordering which keeps them free to deliver meals with efficiency, and my order is always fast when I input my order on arrival. ❤️ There is no “atmosphere” to speak of. It’s a tiny building, but their focus is on serving delicious food, so when you take it out you can provide the place and atmosphere of your liking!~
