We visited Jayalaxmi South Indian Cuisine on a Tuesday morning after hearing some mixed opinions from friends about the food being hit or miss at times. Decided to give it a try ourselves, and to our surprise, it turned out to be an excellent experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and had that authentic South Indian touch that’s hard to find around here.

The idlis were soft, light, and perfectly paired with the chutneys and sambar. The cheese masala dosa was another highlight — crispy on the outside, filled generously, and bursting with taste. Every item felt freshly prepared and served hot, which made the overall meal very satisfying

Our server, Gokul, added to the good experience with his polite and attentive service. He ensured we were comfortable and even helped us with suggestions from the menu.

Overall, Jayalaxmi turned out to be a great breakfast spot in downtown Kitchener. Definitely worth visiting for anyone craving authentic South Indian flavors.

Being their regular customer i have always loved their mumbai mysore masala dosa , onion uttapam , chettinadu chicken kothu curry dosa, vada idly combo, sambhar mini idly & gobi manchurian. For the first time i went out of the box and tried their parotta + chicken curry combo and i can definitely say that it was BOMB!! Especially with the cold weather outside having comfortable, hot & spicy curry with the crispy parotta was absolutely delicious Their servers are very kind they always ensure we are doing okay and if the food is made right. I do not know their names but harini is my fav girl the other nepali guy is also absolutely amazing , they know exactly what they are doing and honestly i have visited here many times but today i decided to post this review just because i have observed consistency and improvements wherever needed. Not to forget they serve halal food (+10 for the consideration) If you are in Kitchener please visit them and i bet you won’t be disappointed ⭐️

Great Food Quality! The Staff Services are Great and very polite, valuing their customers few problems we faced was, there is a bit wait time (30mins), for the orders to arrive & it could be due to the timeline we visited(7-8pm). Price of food is reasonable. Menu with prices are attached, for future visitors. Restrooms are Quite clean, but can be improved. Also parking is limited 🙁

Great food. Biryani was ok, but we went get primarily for dosa, idli, wada, and all of that was great. Ancient and service is also fantastic. Ample parking is available.

Such a great find – would totally go again!
This was my first time trying a South Indian restaurant in Canada, and Jaya Lakshmi in Kitchener did not disappoint. First off, they have free parking, which is always a plus.

The food came out super fast – we got everything within 5 to 8 minutes of ordering. I went with the Mysore Mumbai Masala Dosa based on the server’s suggestion, and it was so flavourful and filling. I also tried the Mango Lassi (not on the menu, but I saw it on Google reviews) – and I’m glad I asked for it! It was really creamy and sweet, just how I like it.

We also ordered the Sambhar Mini Idlis – 14 pieces dunked in warm sambhar, and they were honestly so comforting. I ended the meal with their Rava Halwa, which had this unique pineapple twist. It was definitely different – a little too sweet for my liking, but I’d never imagined that combo before, so it was cool to try something new.

Also, a special shoutout to the server call button on each table – such a smart touch! No more awkwardly trying to get someone’s attention. If you’re craving some authentic South Indian flavours, this place is 100% worth checking out!!

I have visited them more than 30-40 times. They have great dosas, idli, chicken dum biryani. Also special mention for veg noodles, not that spicy but tastes good. Filter coffee is fine. Need to try rest of the food. But imo this best South Indian restaurant in KWC.

The food was okay, but the quantity was insufficient for the raita served with the veg biriyani.
Seems like understaffed when we visited.
Lil loud music.
The dosa was good, and the chutney was good too. But again quantity is not sufficient..
There was a delay in getting our orders.

Me and my family recently visited the Kitchener location of Jayalakshmi South Indian Cuisine. We had earlier tried their Brantford branch, which we really enjoyed — the taste, quality, and overall experience there was far better.

Unfortunately, the Kitchener location didn’t quite meet the same expectations. The food was average, and to be very frank, the taste and authenticity weren’t consistent with what we had experienced before. While the service was decent, it just didn’t feel worth the price for us this time.

Overall, it’s okay if you’re nearby and want to try, but if you’ve tasted their food in Brantford before, you might feel a noticeable difference

One of the best places in Kitchener if you’re looking for your dosa, idli or medu vada fix! Rest of the food is delicious too. Really recommend the Rawa Kesari and Filter Coffee ☕
Soumya was kind and sweet and made our experience.
