Used to love this place but the past couple of times it has been disappointing. Not sure if they have a new cook but the food is not as good. Doesn’t taste fresh and the seasoning is different. Just got an ACP take out and the chicken was huge weird pieces of chicken. Not going back for a while. Disappointing bc it was our fav Mexican spot for a while.

Ordered takeout, as I do weekly at this location. Picked up my food, and received a small 2oz cup of queso with my ACP, not the normal portion size I’d received the last 4+ orders. I informed them that isn’t what I’d normally gotten, and was told that’s the side queso that comes with the ACP (except clearly it is not, as that was the first time in numerous orders I’d received that). I asked how much it would be to buy another side of queso as that wasn’t enough for a full order of ACP and was told it’d be almost $6… for another 2oz cup? Really? Okay won’t be ordering lunch here anymore.

Serious Alcohol Service Safety Concern
Last night, my husband, toddler, and I dined at your restaurant. I am currently six months pregnant.
When our waiter asked for drink orders, my husband requested Topo Chico, expecting non-alcoholic sparkling water. The waiter did not clarify that there were alcoholic versions available and served an alcoholic mango Topo Chico without specifying that it contained alcohol.
I took a large sip before realizing it was alcoholic.
This is a serious safety failure. Alcohol service requires clear communication and safeguards. Serving alcohol without clarification, or ID checks, creates real risk, particularly for pregnant guests, people in recovery, or anyone with medical or personal reasons to avoid alcohol.
When we raised the issue:
• The waiter stated there are “two types of Topo Chico” but did not acknowledge why that should have been clarified.
• He apologized briefly and walked away.
• A second waiter apologized but immediately minimized the incident by stating he was new and that “accidents happen.”
What was most concerning was the lack of understanding of the magnitude and potential consequences of this mistake. This was not treated with the seriousness it warranted.
While I hope that one sip will not harm my unborn child, this situation could have had devastating consequences for someone else, such as a person with long-term sobriety or a severe allergy. The response we received did not inspire confidence that guest safety is being taken seriously.
I am bringing this to your attention because alcohol service errors are preventable, and the current handling of this situation suggests a need for improved training and protocols.
I expect this concern to be taken seriously and addressed appropriately.

This food was amazing. Honestly the best Mexican we have ever had. The service was right on par. If you are in the area and want some Mexican food, there is no other choice. Everything we had was awesome! Even the kids smiley fries had a nice crunch to them. Take my advice, go here, eat a lot, and enjoy yourself! You are welcome!

I used to eat here in the 90’s at the Jaxsonville location. I remembered it being really good. So, I was excited to see they were still around. I wasn’t expecting it to still hit so hard though. Como un typical guedo, I ordered arroz con pollo con chips y salsa. It was all so good!

Used to love this place, but it has been inconsistent and downhill the past year. On my most recent visit, we were given chips and sat with our menus (no drinks) for 15 mins before a waiter came. Mind you, there were 3-4 women talking at the front almost the entire time we were in the restaurant. Then, I was ready to pay and leave and our waiter had walked by twice, so I tried to take our ticket to the front. I was told by the 3 women I had to pay at my table. I said, well it’s been really slow tonight and went back and waited another few mins to pay. One of the women came and took my card to our waiter. What was the point of this? I still tipped the waiter because he was clearly working as quickly as he could. But, this situation was wrong and unnecessary. The food came quickly but my fajitas were entirely unseasoned (tasted like meat and oil), so I had to ask for salt and pepper.

We went on a weekend and there was not a long waiting list, we were served quickly and the food arrived on time. Our table was clean, our waiter was very friendly despite the fact that there were people, he took great care of us.The dishes have more than enough food. The truth is that he is very satisfied with the portions, although almost everything we ordered lacked a bit of seasoning. (Salt). Good presentation, good flavor and the prices are according to the Range.

I tried calling in a pick up order and was told to “go to Chipotle”. The first thing I tried ordering was a bean, cheese, and rice burrito and the girl told me that they don’t do customized burritos and was told to go to Chipotle… after that comment I had to hang up without placing the 6 other items I needed (which were all regular, no “crazy” modified menu items).
Luckily, I ended up successfully ordering from the El Cerro next to UNCW but man, I’ve never encountered a Mexican restaurant that won’t make a staple vegetarian Mexican burrito and then get told to go to Chipotle.
Shoutout to the girl at the El Cerro by UNCW for knowing how to use the POS system!!

There is often a wait in the evening. Lunch time mid week is less busy. Parking lot is full but turns over quickly. Service is consistently polite. Clean, busy and fast-moving restaurant. Family friendly. Their chips, queso and salsa are very good. The Burrito Diablo and Burrito Supreme with chicken are our favorites. They are extra large servings and we typically take half of each home. The Fajita Salad is fresh and made beautifully (order extra chicken!). If there are leftovers we order extra Mexican rice to go and enjoy it the next day.

The hostess are the most attentive and helpful. They make sure to check my order so I don’t leave missing anything and knowing everything is to my liking. They make sure wait staff is friendly and outgoing, this place is super popular and usually gets full but the service is always the best to what they got. 10/10
