This is a mom and pop restaurant located in the old Seven Gables building on west Chestnut st in Springfield. The old MC used to meet upstairs back in the day before the renovated and made it single level. The place is a little grungy and wait time is slow but good old place to grab a bite to eat. People give a bad rap sometimes but this is like a good old dive bar and worth checking out as the owners are cool and foods pretty good. Worth checking out more than once.

Terrible service because they don’t have enough employees and there is only 1 person working the entire floor for all the incoming call orders on the phone and the floor in the restaurant so this individual is overworked and I’m sure underpaid.
Restaurant is not clean like most restaurants in North Springfield. Just gross. Very old place and very run down however the food is good as long as it doesn’t get us sick Lol.
I’ve eaten here before and never got sick so far.
Food was good again we had chili and chicken and dumpling soup.

This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
First off, the timing was a complete joke. Appetizers are supposed to come before the meal — not after we were already served our food. By the time the appetizers showed up, we were already eating, which completely defeats the purpose.
Then there’s the bacon. I don’t know what happened in that kitchen, but what was served was burnt beyond recognition. Not crispy. Not well-done. Burnt. Dry, blackened, bitter strips that looked and tasted like they had been forgotten on the grill and scraped off as an afterthought. I’ve attached a picture because no one would believe this was actually served to a customer.
To make things even worse, we didn’t receive our chef salad until after the rest of the food was already served. A salad shouldn’t be an afterthought — especially not one that shows up late while everything else is already on the table.
There was zero organization, zero quality control, and zero concern for the customer experience. This place clearly does not care about timing, presentation, or even basic food standards.
Save your money and your appetite. There are plenty of restaurants that know how to serve edible food in the correct order — this is not one of them.

Alli’s Family Restaurant has been a local secret, but this review is a tell-all. So listen up, all you transplants and Springfield newbies. For a great meal at a reasonable price, in a cozy, friendly atmosphere, eat here.

I want to start by saying I order from Alli’s more than any other place. I actually ordered from this restaurant last night. BUT this , this is unacceptable and disgusting. The food isn’t even worth eating. Actually I’m afraid to eat it. The food wasn’t prepared like it has been every other time we ordered from there. The chips are an inch thick potatoes that looked like they soaked them in the fryer instead of cooking them. The Philly wrap came in quesadilla style instead of a wrap. When called about it we found out it was the OWNER who made the food. It’s disgusting and this man obviously doesn’t know how to cook. Instead of trying to find a solution he wanted to run his mouth in the background stating, “that’s how we make the wraps”
What ?! I’m sorry if you’re lazy and incompetent at being a cook , just goes to show how you must be as an owner.
The fact that your waitress agreed that’s not how they’re made but stated , “But he’s the owner so there’s nothing we can do” … Goes to show you must be an uptight weirdo to your staff as well.
It’s sad that you’re the owner of such a great restaurant and yet treat someone who goes to your restaurant 5 days out of the week like they’re stupid.
Do better or don’t do it at all. Leave the cooking to actual cooks please.

First and last visit. The parking lot was very dark. My wife ordered the walleye and salad with the in house made ranch dressing First thing you need to know is if you order a salad. It is just lettuce nothing else. The fish was 2 big pieces but you could tell it was rewarmed the coating was flaking off and the fish was dry( rewarm) . I had the ham and beans cornbread and fried potatoes and onions. The beans where not hot. And I would bet came straight out of a can and warmed up the hame is not cooked with or come in the can with the beans it’s a small portion of the diced ham just tossed in the bowl. The cornbread was hot but hard as a rock on the bottom. And and the fried potatoes where so overcooked it was like eating potato chips. It looked a bit rundown .we had ice water to drink. One waitress but she was polite and friendly and was on top of things the best she could. Cost 35$ and we left hungry. Almost forgot we had the fried mushrooms with the house made ranch dressing and they where chrisp on the outside and very good and they give huge portions but it just lacks the homade cooking

This is comfort diner food at its best. Alli’s has always been able to deliver good food at a good price.
Their omelettes are amazing. They do not skimp on the size and stuffing them with the ingredients of your choice.
The biscuits and gravy is simple, but reminds you (at least me) of the dine back home I went to as a kid with family. Just a biscuit (one, two, or three) and white gravy. Nothing fancy, just wholesome.
It has been a while since we have ordered anything but breakfast, so I will save lunch/dinner reviews for a later time.

The place is dingy and dirty and if you’d like very old southern food, then it might be your place, but it looks like you could catch a disease. The food was OK. You could definitely make it at home at the same price probably cheaper. The waitress is nice though!

Heading home we always stop for breakfast. I typically google “food near me” and usually try to find a place we have not eaten at before and has good ratings. I chose Alli’s due to the location. The food was great and the portions were huge. Price was fair and considering the current times VERY reasonable. It is an old diner and the clientele appears to be all locals and regulars. The staff was pleasnt, friendly and kind hearted. If you’re hungry and enjoy a great breakfast this place will not disappoint.
