I had dinner at Fincher’s Barbecue recently, and it took me back — there’s something timeless and honest about this place. Walking in, it immediately feels old‑school and unpretentious: modest décor, simple tables, maybe a few folks chatting over plates, and that smoky BBQ aroma hanging in the air. It’s exactly the kind of no‑frills barbecue joint you hope to find when you just want good food, not hype.
I went for the pulled‑pork “Pig” sandwich stacked with meat and their classic tangy‑sweet BBQ sauce — and it hit the spot. The pork was tender and smoky, sauced just right, and the bun held up without getting soggy. I added a side of baked beans and some cole slaw to round it out. The sides were hearty; nothing fancy, but exactly what you want: filling, a little comfort‑food rough‑around‑the‑edges in a good way.
What I liked most: the portions were honest and filling. After finishing my plate I was fully satisfied — not bursting, but pleasantly full. The vibe felt relaxed. It wasn’t polished or trendy, but friendly and grounded: people seemed like they were regulars, it felt familiar. Staff were straightforward and efficient; the service felt casual and down-to-earth, like you’re eating in a local’s place rather than a showy restaurant.
Fincher’s doesn’t pretend to do gourmet BBQ. It’s about tradition — meat slow‑smoked, sauce that hits that Southern sweet‑peppery note, and comfy familiarity. If you’re after well‑made, unpretentious Southern‑style barbecue that feels like a piece of culinary history, Fincher’s Barbecue delivers. I’d go back for sure when I’m craving that kind of comfort.

The beef briskets were really good especially for the price. I liked the pulled chicken as well

Came through the drive thru today 2/20/26 around 11:30. Placed our order our boss was paying for ended up being 42 and some change. Upon return of receipt to the cashier at the window, she proceeded to make a snide comment about no tip. I remember her exact words were “hell of a tip”. Very unprofessional as I usually tip something when its my personal card. Not a card that belongs to someone else as its not my money. I’m just dumbfounded that someone would make a comment like that with the customer sitting there, let alone say it to them directly.

Food was great. Our waitress was very rude. We had to get straws from another waitress. Never offered drink refills. We were a group of 5 older ladies and were out for lunch. I go to the drive thru regularly very seldom dine in. One of us also wanted an order to go, she was told to order it at the counter when she paid for her dine in lunch. A very rude waitress turned a good get together for lunch into a very disappointing time. We are starting this lunch outing on a regular basis. Don’t think Fincher’s will be on our list again.

Old school BBQ. Nothing fancy. I had the pork plate with sauce, fries, slaw & Brunswick stew. Everything was hot and tasty. My wife had ribs, tossed salad & fries. My wife gave me one of her ribs. It was moist, tender an# flavorful. Service was great. Priced right. We had dinner for less than $25. When in Macon, we’ll definitely be back.

Not representative of good Georgia BBQ at all. The brusnwick stew is decent (at best) but everything else was lacking. The barbecue sauce is watery and flavorless. The hamburger steak is a good size but leaves a lot to be desired flavor wise and the gravy also lacks flavor. Overall, two stars was the best I had.

The inside does not seem very clean. Had to sit at a table that was not cleared off due to wait and was told it would be cleared off and wiped down. Waited 10 minutes for them to clean it and wipe it down. Service is not good. Have to ask fir everything including drink refills. Not sure why this is rated the best BBQ. Stew is not good at all. Tastes like mush. BBQ is nothing special. Cole slaw is bland. Will not be going back.

Overall, nice little barbecue place. The staff was amazing. I enjoyed the hamburger steak with gravy. The chicken taste similar to Sonny’s chicken, I know Sonny’s chicken. I hope their baked beans are homemade, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they weren’t. Fried okra was crispy, and I enjoyed. Their bbq sauce is a vinegar base, I didn’t like it. The restaurant does need to be updated, mainly the ceiling. The only thing I didn’t like is they use a lot of styrofoam which isn’t good for the environment. What I mean is they use styrofoam plates to help cut back on dishes. Truckers, you are able to park only the tractor in the grocery store parking lot and walk over.

I’ve enjoyed Fischer’s BBQ before, but this visit was a waste. Disappointed, and shocked at the product and then to be charged 55¢ for water. Rushed for work and chose drive-thru when I normally have food delivered to me when I’m press for time. Just a reminded to stop second-guessing myself. “Follow your first mind”.

Came in near closing, brisket was dry and tough (was really disappointed) the Brunswick stew was very odd and they gave you what felt like a sample size. The French frys pretty ok… was also disappointed to go to a bbq spot and they dont have mashed potatoes.
Staff where nice and talkative.
