I arrived here around 9:25pm on a Saturday evening with my son. It wasn’t busy at all. It was the off season (late October), so I’m sure that’s normal. It took a few minutes to be seated, however.
Maddie was the waitress and she was friendly and attentive the whole time. I got boardwalk lemonade with strawberry (contains alcohol). It came in a souvenir cup and was tasty.
I ordered entrees at 9:36pm. I got the Fried shrimp dinner with fried and veggies (zucchini / squash mix). My son got the kids cheeseburger and fries. We received our food at 9:53pm. My shrimp was sooooo delicious. I had been craving shrimp and it hit the spot!
The only downside, which is not necessarily any fault of the establishment, was that there was only one other table present but they were being vulgar and saying/discussing inappropriate things that my son didn’t need to hear. I wish staff had asked them to be respectful of the other guests. I think they were intoxicated to a point.

Really great brunch spot on the boardwalk. We loved everything we ordered — the steak breakfast burrito, eggs benedict with avocado, cheesy baked grits, mimosas, and a Bloody Mary. The outdoor seating was perfect on such a nice day, and the staff were super friendly. They even brought our dog a water bowl which was a really nice touch. We had a great experience and would definitely come back.

We stayed at Four Points and stopped in for a cocktail. The service is so great. Alina served us our cocktails and they were fabulous. Great place right along the boardwalk. Be sure to try there drink specials!

Overall a good experience with a nice oceanfront view outside and our waitress was great. We came across this place walking on the boardwalk at nighttime during the weekend and we were able to get a seat for dinner. I got the Fried Seafood Platter and friend ordered the Seafood Boil. And although I can’t say the food was anything exceptional and I think it was a little overpriced for the portion size, it was still good. The drink I got called Dragon Fizz was a little too sweet (and not strong enough) but some may like that.

I had lunch here for the first time. Everything was perfect — we enjoyed the view and the waves. I chose the clams, and my sister had the crab cake sandwich. Cristina was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely come back.

Fantastic New Year’s Day Experience! We kicked off Jan 1, 2026, with a walk at Virginia Beach and stopped into Jumpin’ Shrimp. The food was incredible—the she-crab soup and bacon-wrapped scallops are must-haves! A huge shoutout to our bartender, Josh, who made a phenomenal mojito. Both Josh and the young lady working with him provided excellent service and made our visit special. We’ll definitely be back!

This was our second Sunday stopping in at Jumping Shrimp, and honestly, we just can’t say enough about this place. Rhonda makes some truly amazing cocktails—last weekend’s Hot Butter Rum was incredible, and today’s cranberry seasonal drink was just as good. She really can’t be beat as a bartender.
Today we had the biscuits and gravy, plus the corned beef hash with toast, and everything was delicious and full of flavor. Special thanks to our server—sorry we didn’t catch your name—but she was wonderful and took great care of us.
If you’re in Virginia Beach, you have to try this place!

As local residents of Virginia Beach, we decided to take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk on a brisk fall Sunday morning. After a bit of walking, we chose to stop for a bite to eat and wandered into the Jumping Shrimp Restaurant.
Upon entering, we were warmly greeted by the hostess. We mentioned we’d like to sit at the bar for a quick meal, and she kindly led us over—turns out, she was also the bartender! She handed us menus and gave us a moment to decide while letting us know about their $5 Bloody Mary special. We decided to give it a try, and to our pleasant surprise, the drinks were excellent—perfectly balanced and just spicy enough.
Our food arrived promptly, and we were both impressed by the generous portions and quality. The grits were the highlight for me—rich, flavorful, and creamy with just the right texture. The sausage links were also outstanding—clearly made in a butcher’s style, not your typical store-bought kind.
Given the cool weather, I couldn’t resist ordering an Irish coffee. When it arrived, I was surprised by how large it was—hot, smooth, and absolutely delicious.
Overall, we were very pleased with our visit to Jumping Shrimp. The service was friendly, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was relaxed. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting the oceanfront.

Stopped along the boardwalk on our beach cruiser bike to get some dinner, got to say, awful! 45 minutes till we got food, and it was not busy. Then they bring out the wrong salad. Food was really just fast food marginal, and service today was real slow and terrible. I told my wife it took to long we should just leave. We had the Mimosa, was real good, Oysters Rockefeller was just basic. We might have had a new server, but for the food we got, service was not even a tip in our books and really slow and she seemed lost, and found out new! We told Ivan (the manager) and server we wanted extra dressing and butter, 2 times, it never showed, he told server! Unreal. But the manager Ivan tried to help and comped our meal and a few drinks and was really nice and helped us. I wanted to give 1 star across the board but we are nice! Other people in the restaurant were also upset. I’ll have to pass on this place!
