The restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. Great experience overall. Will definitely return!
Tucked in the always-packed Yes Plaza on Colima Road, **Fish For You** delivers that authentic mainland Chinese taste that reminds me of bustling Beijing hotpot spots . The menu is massive—grilled fish in spicy broth, pickled cabbage, mala dry pot—and everything screams classic Sichuan/Hunan comfort. The **grilled fish** (we got the sea bass in spicy green pepper sauce) arrives bubbling on a sterno flame, packed with numbing peppercorns, tender filets that soak up the bold broth without falling apart. Sides like enoki mushrooms, lotus root, and wood ear absorb the flavors beautifully. The **China beef** (cumin lamb, I assume) was fragrant and tender, with that signature smoky wok hei.
Portions are huge, perfect for sharing family-style, and the broth has that deep, layered spice—not watered-down for American palates. The room is lively, with big round tables and quick turnover.
That said, points deducted for a few issues. Found a **hair** in the broth midway through (happens, but still a buzzkill—staff apologized and comped a side, but it lingered in my mind). Service was **average speed**—not terrible, but on a busy night we waited 15 mins for refills and the check while servers zoomed past. Also, the “China beef” dish felt solidly executed but didn’t wow compared to heavier hitters in the SGV.
Overall, Fish For You nails that **classic China taste** when you’re craving bold, spicy grilled fish without frills. It’s not flawless, but the flavors keep me coming back. Solid pick in Rowland Heights—just cross fingers for no surprises in the soup.
This is my mom’s favorite place. We love the rattan pepper fish and the lemon fish. The kids love the Taiwanese sausage.
We also love the coconut lava ball. Quick service, excellent food and affordable prices!!
The Scallion Fish was fresh, tender, and perfectly seasoned. It’s rare to see such honest and proactive service these days. I truly appreciate their kindness and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!
The pickled fish dishes are well-executed, with tender fish slices soaking in broths that pack a punch of tangy, slightly spicy flavors. I personally enjoyed the classic pickled cabbage fish for its balance of sourness and heat, while the tomato-based option felt lighter and more refreshing. The spice level is manageable and won’t overwhelm you, even if you’re not a fan of overly fiery dishes. The portion sizes are reasonable, especially considering the affordable prices, making it a good value meal.
Service is quick and efficient, though it’s more of a self-service experience. You order at the counter, and the food is brought to your table fairly promptly. While it’s not a place for lingering, it’s perfect for a quick and flavorful meal.
Overall, “鱼你在一起” is a great spot for when you’re craving something comforting, flavorful, and unapologetically bold. It’s not fancy, but it delivers where it counts: good food at a fair price.
