I had such a fantastic dining experience recently! The food was absolutely delicious, truly a culinary delight ️. And the atmosphere? It was so wonderfully inviting and vibrant, perfect for a relaxing evening. I also wanted to give a huge shoutout to the staff for being incredibly helpful and attentive throughout my visit. Their service really made the whole experience even more special. It’s always a pleasure to find places that excel in both food and hospitality. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! #Foodie #GreatAtmosphere #ExcellentService #DiningOut

El Mexicali 2, fourth Generations restaurant is a great Mexican restaurant concentrated on quality ingredients and traditional cooking philosophy..food seasoning is not spicy prejudice of chili..well, balance. Their salsa has enough kick or ask for spicier version with layers of chilies blend. To me, best QPR find in 2025. Generous portions with quality to match. Seafood freshness was palpable on the night we visited. Decor is old traditional waem Mexican vibes, hospitality was excellent. Grandma recipes are great legacy for this cafe with quality ingredients instead of chili t ladden Mexican biased. Even Diabla sauce is well balanced. Try rhe seafood platter to share with loads quality seafood such as shrimp, abalone and octopus. Cevice was refreshing with perfect acidity, house specialty of chili Guerito was tasty (yellow chili stuffed with diced shrimp reminded me of Chinese style cooking – Tasty). Overall, the experience was very satisfying and best QPR for 2025. If you happen to be in Indio or Coachella, i would recommend to give a try… I would consider a good legacy restaurant.

Don’t go for their octopus and Chille Rellenos. Nothing to it and not worth it. But other dishes were Okay. Their drinks are very good. Service is fast and densely but even though we had reservations we had to wait almost 25 minutes to be seated. The ambiance is pleasant but nothing to write about. If you have another option try it.

We stop here as often as possible, when we’re traveling on the 10 freeway. It’s just west of exit, going either way. We have a long motorhome and towing a trailer. Easy parking if you turn right on Oleander and have large RV.
We are greeted by many of staff with “hello” and “welcome”. There are extensive menu choices. It was lunch hour and we were greeted immediately with a bowl of chips and salsa, along with questions what we’d like to drink. They have Modelo Negra, my favorite, and often not easily found at Mexican Restaurants. Today we got the ala carte chile Relleno. I added a cheese enchilada, hubby, the grilled shrimp taco.
The Rellenos are nice sized, not too spicy, plenty of melted cheese, and complimented with a tasty, light red sauce that’s not too tomato’y.
Grilled shrimp had big shrimp, cooked right, in a ‘regular’ sized corn tortilla, not the small street taco size, which is a plus.
My cheese enchilada was a little small, but I couldn’t finish it after eating the relleno.
Our server was quick, and we were out in a flash, without feeling rushed. More than once we were thanked for coming in.
The only thing I think could be improved was to make sure the dishes come out piping hot. Ours were not, and I don’t remember this issue at past visits. No pics because I forgot. We will be back.

We ordered to go to eat in our rooms at the adjacent hotel and food came fast and hot. The shrimp fajitas are so tasty, very authentic tasting cuisine, with big portions and sides included. Happy we found this gem on the road.

The atmosphere is amazing and the service was good. They were very attentive to their tables. The food was good overall. The only issues I had were the chips looked and tasted like they came from the bottom of the bag (small and a bit greasy). While the Carne asada had good flavor, there was too much fat for my liking. We will probably be back!
