Perfect old school Diner. Painted ceiling tiles are a nice touch. Located just outside the entrance to Jacksonville University. Students and faculty come here for real home cooked meals. Our party of 3 no waiting on a Busy Sunday morning

Long story short… Yes! I was on the hunt for fried chicken but I noticed that everyone was going into this diner and I’m glad I followed the crowd. I had the seafood platter with the Cajun wings (they didn’t make the photo op because I literally gobbled them up too fast – the fish almost didn’t make it either). The diner was clean and organized, like it was busy on a Sunday afternoon and the staff were so friendly and handled everything well. What I loved most was the seasoning was so balanced. Not too anything which is rare some places. Being a Carolina girl the only thing I would’ve liked was some more vinegar or smoked meat in the greens but they were tender so it worked for me. Everyone around me seemed happy. The mimosas looked great ( I didn’t drink) and you could tell there were many regulars in the room. Make it a place to visit when you pass through Jacksonville.

Don’t let the humble exterior fool ya. This is a full service diner with great food and excellent customer service. Our table enjoyed fried green tomatoes, a mushroom Swiss burger, a liver and oinion plate and a delicious Greek omelette. Will definitely eat here again!

My first time eating here and I was not disappointed. Katie was prompt to our table to give us our menus and take our drink order. The coffee was sensational, especially with the hazelnut creamer. I ordered the protein breakfast with rye toast and sausage patties and my wife ordered the traditional breakfast with pancakes and crispy bacon. Very, very delicious! Great value. I definitely want to return.

I had an pickup order so I don’t think I’m the best judge of atmosphere. With that said it did seem very nice the short time I was inside. I was addressed quickly and had a wonderful interaction with the hostess.
The food was great. Bacon, eggs, turkey sausage. As well as some of the most amazing homemade pancakes I have had in some time. I legit can’t say enough about them. I planned on posting a pic with my review, but ate them before I remembered . They were actually that good. Definitely plan on picking up something again, and hopefully eating inside next time.

University Diner on Merrill at Cesery Roads in Arlington, Jacksonville, Florida. A quaint little local breakfast and brunch eatery with lots of personality, and seat yourself tables. The staff were all super friendly. Our server was very attentive and came back several times to check on us and see if our drinks needed refills. The restaurant was quite packed but still had 3 tables available when we arrived on Sunday at 11ish. A very chill local atmosphere with a good mix of personalities and multi-cultured patrons.
The food was on par with a local diner. We have heard great things about the place, so we decided to stop in for a late breakfast. Prices were on par with Waffle House or Ihop. We ordered Western Omelet, Biscuits & Gravy, Chicken (tenders) & Waffles, and kids meal Pancakes.
Would recommend and will be going back : )

Went here on a whim one morning and instantly became a regular. Such a wonderful and delicious menu. Cornbeef hash skillet is my favorite. Such wonderful service from everyone who works here. They have such a huge variety of foods.

I’ve been trying to stop in here for years. Finally had an opportunity. Had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans with a cup of chili. Chili was good, green beans and mashed potatoes were great. The meatloaf had a good taste but mine was a bit dry and overdone. The gravy was bland and needed seasoning. Service was outstanding! I will be back for breakfast next time!
