Reviews
Despite being a full house once we arrived, we were served promptly and food came quick.
Sucuklu pide was really excellent, truly authentic Turkish sucuk and a nice crispy pide dough. Highly recommend.
The beef and lamb İskender, while not fully traditional in its presentation, was very well done. The döner is authentic Turkish döner, properly meaty and fatty with real meat–no ground meat. Highly recommend.
The chicken kebab (not pictured) was technically well cooked–juicy and charred–but didn’t have the Turkish flavors one would expect. It may fit some people’s palates, but if I wanted a Middle Eastern kebab I’d rather just go to an Afghan restaurant.
The baklava was a miss. The baklava itself seemed to have walnuts–which should be either pistachios or hazelnuts–and didn’t taste fresh. The vanilla ice cream we got with it was also nothing to write home about.
The stuff that this place gets right are really good. If you’re looking for authentic and well made Turkish İskender and pide I highly recommend Kolbeh.
What impressed me even more was the service. It was iftar time and the place was completely packed, but the staff handled it so well. They were friendly, attentive, and got our food out surprisingly fast despite how busy it was.
Amazing food and excellent service. I’ll definitely be coming back!
The service was excellent from start to finish. After our meal, we even had a great conversation with the owner. I’m sorry I forgot his name, but he was incredibly kind, down-to-earth, and really made sure we were taken care of.
We ordered a variety of dishes and enjoyed every one of them. The prices were surprisingly reasonable for the area—not too expensive at all. I had checked the reviews before going, and they were all great. I’m happy to say Kolbeh definitely lived up to the hype.
Overall, we all loved our experience and will definitely be visiting again.
Good:
1. Decorations are beautiful. Restaurant is very clean.
2. Staff if very very attentive and friendly and will give recommendations
3. Food was delicious and bread was fresh. My husband loved his meal.
4. Located in the mall so you can walk around afterwards and shop or people watch
5. Service was fast
6. Tea was smooth and authentic
Areas of improvment
1. After they took our order they asked if we want bread. We assumed that it was free for the table but we were charged ($3). I just wish they would have made it more clear that it was not free
2. They don’t offer tap water and they charge ($2) for a small bottled water.
3. Portions are small. The soup bowl was half full and the egg dish was $13 for 2 eggs and a few pieces of pastrami. (Still very very delicious but I wish there was more). To be fair my husband got a main dish and he said his portion was large.
4. Prices are a little higher. Maybe because it’s in a mall? Spent $70 for lunch for 2 people.
One negative point: when it was time to pay, they brought the handheld card reader with the tip options. My guest was very happy with the food and service and asked me to leave a good tip. However, there was no itemized list shown at that moment. When I tapped my card, I noticed the total was close to $130, which seemed quite high considering the food and beverages for three people and less than 10% tax. It turned out that a gratuity had already been added. In the end, about $55 of the total went to tax and tips. If I had known gratuity was already included, I would have left a more reasonable additional tip.
Another minor downside is the outside view of the restaurant. It faces the garage and parking area, which is not very enjoyable if you are sitting near the windows.
Overall, the food quality and service are very good, but the payment and gratuity process could be clearer.
The food was also cooked to perfection. I had some of the best chicken and lamb kabob to date at Kolbeh. The chicken was juicy and perfectly tender, and the lamb was so rich. We ordered a spread of appetizers and dishes for the table, selections recommended by the owner himself, and were not disappointed. On top of the speedy delivery of food, the staff kept our tables clean throughout and any request we had was fulfilled.
The desserts here were to die for too. Truly the cherry on top of the whole fantastic experience. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, I loved everything about it, and will be returning.
Turkish cuisine with great service including meeting the nice owner!
Can’t wait for them to expand or open a newer location for larger parties.
Had the chicken soup but plenty of other delicious options ranging from breakfast to sandwiches but also sharing options.
We had tried pide and highly recommend the zaatar flavor that was present .
Would come back for another lunch date.
Also had the tea not pictured.
The food was super good. Everything we ordered was great, and they have many excellent choices on the menu. The service was also amazing. It’s rare to find service that is so quick and helpful these days, and it made our whole visit better.
Kolbeh is the perfect spot to spend time with friends and family. The great food and wonderful service make it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. We will definitely be coming back frequently!
