I had a really great experience at Mel’s Diner. It’s the kind of place that gives you that classic diner feeling the moment you walk in — comfortable, welcoming, and exactly what you hope for when you’re looking for a good, satisfying meal.

The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and like it was made with care. The portions were also very generous, which I always appreciate. It’s nice to go somewhere where you leave feeling full and satisfied rather than wondering where the rest of the meal went. Even better, the prices were very reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get, which makes it feel like a really good value.

One of the highlights for me was the shakes. They were thick, creamy, and incredibly tasty — exactly what a diner milkshake should be. You can tell they don’t cut corners with them. It really added to the whole experience and made the meal feel like a treat.

Overall, Mel’s Diner is a great spot if you’re looking for comforting, classic diner food, good portions, and delicious shakes. The atmosphere is enjoyable, the food hits the spot, and it’s a place I would definitely come back to again.

This diner is such a gem! The food was authentic, delicious, and served hot and fresh—just the way it should be. Cozy atmosphere with that classic diner charm you don’t find anymore. My breakfast was absolutely perfect: fluffy eggs, golden French toast, crispy potatoes, and a hot cup of coffee that kept coming.

What really made the experience even better was Jennifer, she was such a doll! Friendly, attentive, and genuinely sweet. She made me feel right at home and made the visit extra special.

Highly recommend if you want great food, great service, and that nostalgic diner feel. Presentation was so cute. Second location I’ve tried and it’s still hits the spot! La la loved it ☕❤️

So I usually frequent the Mel’s in Roseville and occasionally off J St. We were taking our son back to Sac State and decided to try this Mel’s location. Honestly the best tasting diner food. The service was great. The knick knacks were clean. Surprised it wasn’t busier there because it was my favorite Mel’s so far. Fun atmosphere. Love the jukebox on your table. Waitress was sweet and attentive.

Really great restaurant; I mostly love it because of the atmosphere, it’s so retro. The food was good, and so was the service. I love how there are mini jukeboxes on the tables; there is also a huge, really cool jukebox when you first walk in(I want that jukebox ) Overall, it’s a fun restaurant.

My first time in Mel’s diner. Felt like an old times diner and the food was good and what I would expect. I had a California omelet that was made to perfection. They refilled my coffee and the service was kind and efficient.

I used To be a frequent customer but for about 6 months I was always told they had no soup. One day went on a different day than usual and got a different waitress who told me they always have soup but other waitresses feel it’s too much work to scoop and serve it so they don’t. I stopped going because of this and my mashed potato’s given were a tablespoon portion and my fried chicken was chicken wings not actual pieces. It’s been a while so figured maybe things got better . Me and my daughter ordered from here tonight. Instead of cocktail sauce they gave me my cole slaw. Yep tablespoon amount once again. We’re done with Mels

Guys! This place is awesome! We traveled from SoCal for the aftershock fest and Mel’s just happened to be in the same lot as our hotel. We ate there every morning for the whole week we were there. Our servers Karla and Robin were so sweet and remembered us every time we came in. Idk how but I’m pretty sure we are regulars now even tho we won’t be back till next years festival. The food was really good and the service was top tier.

Old school American diner style eatery offering a selection of all day breakfast and classic burgers and sandwiches. I like the vintage old time interior decoration including the mini jukebox at some of the booths. The food was decent and the menu offered a few choices but nothing impressive. The service was excellent (it was early Saturday morning and there were nearly any dine-in customers). Plenty of free parking in the lot outside. One complaint i had was my toasts were too soft for my liking. Would prefer them to be more crispy. Other than this, no other complaints.

I took my 2 grandkids to Mel’s dinner on How ave. And I have been to the other Mel’s in Sacramento and was always happy with the food. But this time I was so disappointed my grandkids hamburgers were so over cooked and dry it looked black and the buns didn’t look good either it looked like I got it from a school cafeteria. I had The roast beef French dip also dry no taste if it wasn’t for the juice to dip it in. It would’ve had no flavor at all roast beef look like from a deli and very dry. it’s like they Slapped the meat between two pieces of bread that’s it. I felt like the Cook shouldn’t be a cook He put no effort into his cooking. It was disgusting for such a high class place. I spent $80 and was so disappointed. The owners should really teach their cooks how to make juicy hamburgers. Don’t like giving bad reviews, but this was horrible. I won’t be going to this Mils diner again.
