Reviews
The bread and whipped butter were a perfect start—warm, soft bread with a crisp crust and super light butter. They also brought a tray of cold veggies and pickles, which was random but tasty.
The NY strip was excellent: great crust, very tender, well-seasoned, and a big portion. The asparagus were large, soft, and nicely seasoned with lemon. The tuna roll was a surprise hit—the eel sauce with spicy mayo and the tuna marinade were delicious, though we had to ask for chopsticks.
The espresso martini was classic and made with fresh espresso each time, which made it clean and perfectly chilled. The cheesecake with raspberries was rich, creamy, with a thick, delicious crust—definitely sharable.
The restaurant itself has a timeless, old-school-meets-chic vibe, fancy but still comfortable.
Service was good—7/10.
We were greeted with a friendly smile and warm welcome by the maitre d’, and promptly seated. The next 2 hours were filled with culinary delights. The crab cake was sublime, easily the best I’ve ever had (and that includes Virginia, Rhode Island, and California versions). The spicy tuna roll was deliciously spicy and a large enough portion to share. We each partook of a pre-dinner drink, with her having an Old Fashioned and Me having a beer.
Next came the main courses: Steak and lobster for me, blue crab pasta for her. Both were soooo incredibly delectable! The filet was the best cooked steak I have ever eaten. It was truly magnificent.
We wrapped up with dessert, including a cheesecake and a bread pudding dish that was so unbelievably excellent that I wanted to order a 2nd one to go, but we were too full from our stellar meal.
All in all, the service we received was stellar. We never felt rushed during dinner, the food was next level, and the service was fantastic. We will definitely be going back!
Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The seafood was top-notch, and Tiffany’s recommendations were spot on. It’s rare to find both outstanding service and exceptional food in one place, but Oceanaire delivers on both.
Highly, highly recommend for any special occasion or just a great night out. Can’t wait to return!
For mains, I got the grilled swordfish– a nice meaty fish with a sweet soy-based sauce topped with pineapples on a bed of vegetables. My sister got the Creole Norwegian salmon, which is a juicy salmon topped with a well-seasoned Creole (tomato-based) sauce on top of polenta. We did get sides of beans and truffle mashed potatoes for $10 extra each to go with these because we weren’t sure if the extras it came with were enough. There is no need for the sides, but they were good nonetheless. Then we finished with ice cream.
Of course we also got cocktails and Oysters to try, so we really spent over $100 each even for Restaurant Week but I thought it’s was well-spent. The service was impeccable and super friendly and if we didn’t have to rush to a concert, we would’ve stayed to enjoy our food and the vibes more.
We came at around 530 on a weekday and at this time, the clientele skewed older having quiet meals with colleagues and friends. As the night progressed, younger patrons started coming in for celebrations.
A couple of hours later, I started vomiting and continued throughout the entire night. The next day, we had to go to the ER because the vomiting would not stop.
We called the restaurant and tried to speak with the manager, but we were told he was not available and wouldn’t return until Wednesday. When we were finally able to speak with him, his only solution was to leave notes in OpenTable so that the next time we come back, we would receive complimentary appetizers and drinks.
He also told us that food poisoning takes at least four hours to start, so he doesn’t believe it came from the restaurant. It was very disappointing to hear that response instead of genuine concern about what happened.
That was not what we wanted. We were very disappointed that the manager showed no real concern about the fact that we got sick after dining there.
Terrible experience.
