The lobster roll and lobster bisque was delicious. It comes with chips but can upgrade for fries for an extra $1.
Loved the spacious outdoor seating area next to the parking lot. Would highly recommend for seafood lovers!
Go for the Bourdain food tour accomplishment, then go back because it’s that good.
Orders I can cosign:
Chowda (Bourdain was right)
Fried green tomato n crab salad
Korean Surf n Turf – heavy cosign
Pizza and Mac for the kids was a good move.
Disappointments: The crab cakes were very underwhelming. The crab was obviously fresh & tasted pretty good but there was nothing more to it than that.
We got seated outside with a beautiful view of the bay. Our waitress was amazing.
Kubel’s lives up to the hype.
Spicy margarita & blackberry bourbon Manhattan were good.
They had the fireplace going which we sat next to, that was really nice.
House salad with blue cheese was great, great dressing with chunks of blue cheese. Spicy cauliflower bites were tasty.
This place has a great location and an awesome view of the bay and sunsets. We have been to this restaurant 3 times, and for the last time.
Let’s talk about the not so good…. It’s a very busy place. You need a reservation during the season. The food is bland and flavorless, and the plate presentation is awful. This place is confused as to what kind of venue they want to be. Are they German, seafood, Cajun, pub, Korean BBQ….? I have no idea, but the menu is all over the map.
I guess if you’re in the mood for a German pub that also has some overpriced seafood and have a hankering for Korean BBQ, this could be the place for you.
The prices are just stupid. $40 bucks for crab cakes…. come on. Maybe these are not Barnegat bay blue claws and are imported from Korea? Do they have blue claw crab in Korea? $34 bucks for flounder and $38 for swordfish? Sumptin isn’t right. The flounder is in season in NJ and right in the bay, no!? The crab bisque was , well, I can’t even describe it, but it’s not winning and prize at Chowder Fest, that’s for sure.
Skip the drive all the way to Barnegat light. This place is just not worth the sunset view.
Aidin’s 1st night waiting and he was excellent, listened to my requests and was pleasant, friendly and professional. Great job training, Jason. The food was really good. My steak was a tad overcooked,( I ordered medium rare and was closer to medium)but I didn’t mind because the sauce (and I am not a sauce fan) made up for it. Potatoes were tasty and so was the asparagus. I ate in the outside eating area (why wouldn’t you?) I was seated immediately, there was a wait for inside, but I wanted outside anyway. I actually asked to move my table closer to the amazing view and my wonderful servers were accommodating with a smile! On top of all this, the sunset was amazing. I had an extremely stressful day and The Kubel’s Experience melted that away. Thank you so much!
We ordered clam chowder, steamed clams and fried clam strips. We already knew what to order but one of them is no longer on the menu (fried clam strips). The waitress offered that they can make it for us and I’m so delighted.
It’s a 5/5 for everything that we ordered. Hearty soup, tasty and fresh clams! It’s “clam-azing”!
