The first hint I should have taken to heart, was when we walked into the restaurant at 6 PM and we were the only customers in the entire restaurant!
One server, one cook and us. Menu looked okay so we ordered. We ordered our 6 meat dinner, medium rare.
All the meats, except the rib were cooked well done.
Meat was dry since it was so overcooked, luckily they had two different sauces for the meat.
This being said, the cooked plantains, salad and yellow rice (sides) were good.
With tip we paid about $75 per person, for overcooked food.
Service was “Meh” and non-helpful.
There are so many great restaurants in Ybor City and South Tampa, this is NOT one of them.
Go to Ulele, it’s close, yummy and special. By the time you read this review of “El Puerto” they will probably be closed. We were one of 3 active tables for 2 and 1/2 hours on a weekend day.
Don’t waste your time, these people are in the care-less stage.
1st you have to travel to Ybor! It is an eclectic vibrant area with so many small businesses and shops, good food and so many places to so if you’re in Tampa a stop in Ybor a must!
The food was great, very flavorable but I fell in love with the Homemade Bread, made to order, the Argentenian Sausage, Chimichurri sauce and the Sangria. It is a small quaint place and a few blocks off of the main Ybor “Strip” but well worth the dip off of Main street. There is a small step in front, which will be a challenge for those who are wheelchair bound.
My Meal and Drinks *3, were $70. Does not have parking on site; however there is a parking lot across the street and limited street parking in the area. They close @ 10p. Enjoy!
One thing we didn’t like was the server, she was so unprofessional for a server, we still tip even my teenager didn’t want us to do it just for the way she was.
We definitely aren’t going back to this place when we visit Tampa just for the service.
