Goodness gracious. I’ll let the photos do most of the talking.

Got the large Philly sub, toasted and buttery bread with ample filling. It came HOT, burned my mouth a bit so be careful eating it immediately. Had a soft, spicy kick, meat and cheese is standard, but there was an acidic flavor that brought out the flavor of all the other ingredients very well. Haven’t tried may Philly subs in Austin, but this one is going to be tough to beat for me.

Love this place, subs are amazing, good prices, we try to eat here anytime we are in the area, staff is great and very nice, fun environment, I have been eating here since I was a kid and it always taste the same. They have great sandwich and sub options, they have awesome daily specials, they are usually busy but they get through the customers quickly. Hoody is the man…

Had some co-workers recommend this place to me since it was around the corner. There was a bit of line arriving but they were so quick to get my food out I didn’t even care I had to wait in line. Haven’t had the cold subs but was recommended the hot subs were the best. I got a meatball sub and it was soooo good! They are on the expensive side but they use boar’s head meat and that stuff ain’t cheap and i don’t mind spending the extra dollar for quality ingredients.

If you are looking for a Philly Cheesesteak in Austin, you really need to make a pilgrimage to Round Rock and check out Hoody’s Subs.

Yes, they have the right rolls. Yes, they use real ribeye steaks. Yes, they have grilled onion and peppers, mushrooms too if that’s your thing. Yes, they have wiz, provolone, and America cheese. It may not have come from Henry Street in the City of Brotherly Love, but Hoody’s is the real deal.

If you go between 11:30 am – 1:00 pm, be prepared for a wait in line, and yes, the line can be 20-30 deep. It’s worth the wait. I like to get mayo on my cheese steak, and they have this sweet pepper relish that is really tasty.

For my latest visit, I had the small Cheesesteak ($7.75 Large is $15.50). I wanted to also try their Italian sub, which is served cold (Small $7.50 Large $15.00)

The Cheesesteak was perfect. It is so nice to taste one that is made properly. The Italian, meh. Not my thing. In full disclosure, I went to Hoody’s a day after visiting Home Slice Pizza in Austin, which has the best Italian Hoagie in the city.

My friend from Philly likes the Meatball Sub and the Grilled Chicken Sub (Both are Small $7.75 Large $15.50).

They also have another Philly treat there, Tastykakes. Perfect as a side along with chips.

If you haven’t been there, make the trip. You can thank me later.

Being a native of the Philadelphia area, everywhere I travel / live I sample what the locals boldly call a “Philly Cheesesteak“. In my short time on this Earth, I have found few places that measure up to an eastern Pennsylvania proper cheesesteak. Hoody’s I can say without equivocation, this. place. does. it. right. Anyone in the know is aware that bread is the secret, and the technique of incorporating the cheese and additional toppings into the meat is the technique for success. Folks. Hoody’s has it down! 10/10+. I would confidently argue that these folks have it down Pat’s (IYKYK) ;). ETHAN is an artist! This guy is not only a master of his craft, he is a darn nice guy that exceeds expectations in customer service and demeanor. If I
could eat one every day, I would. But I don’t because I’m an adult and don’t want premature death and like seeing my toes without the use of a mirror. Do it. Get you one of their cheesesteaks. You will be very very happy. Then you can get a cheesesteak that truly is a Philly cheesesteak without having to go to Philadelphia and get mugged. God Bless!

I HAVE NO WORDS ON HOW GOOD MY PHILLY CHEESE STEAK WAS FROM HERE!

Tucked away in a small plaza.

Non discreet.

Only time they open on Sunday is for the SUPER BOWL! So I lucked out.

The owner Hoody is from the Northeast and knows a little something about Cheese Steak .

This is the best I have had in Texas!

Don’t even try the franchise Sub Shops. I already did and they ain’t even close to this Iconic local owned Sub shop.

COME HERE!

Just Come here.

I went with a good friend of mine from South Austin to go eat a Philly cheesesteak from there and it was so delicious! Great sub and great service! Everyone one was so nice and friendly. Hoody was so awesome! Brought our food to us and kept checking on everyone that was eating and making sure we didn’t need anything. I would definitely make that drive again!

Hoody’s is essentially an Austin staple at this point and it is well deserving of the reputation it has. Great service, great prices, and a simple but very high-quality menu.

I’ve been a few times but I’ve been most impressed by their meatball sub. Delicious flavor in the meat and the bread has a fantastic chewy texture. Really everything on the menu is great, and portions are generous for the price. Each day they have a deal on a particular sub, and so the final price is of your whole meal is even more affordable than it already is! They also have Dirty brand potato chips, which are hard to find and I HIGHLY recommend trying them if you haven’t yet.

You really can’t go wrong with Hoody’s when you’re in the mood for a sub sandwich. I really want to highlight that your money goes FAR when you come here. Stop by when you’re in the neighborhood!

This is my first time at Hoodys and won’t be my last! The cheese steak was very tender and the bun was very soft!

Way good!! Would recommend every one of the sandwiches here.

Small menu which means they can focus on everything to make it great. One of my favorite places.
