Rapscallion Table & Tap – Cozy Farmhouse

Cozy and comfortable, Rapscallion’s staff and kitchen welcome you into a country style farmhouse with warm food. The restaurant offers lots of parking and its spaces are family-friendly.

Over a quick lunch, we enjoyed Raps’ brined and smoked wings with chipotle aioli sauce and ranch. They were hot and tasty, although a touch dry. We also had their fresh house salads for a light bite. The highlight was the New England corn clam chowder, which was perfect for the cold and rainy day, with its potatoes and garlic standing out against the sweet corn and bacon.

They were quite short-staffed that day and their two waitresses were constantly moving from room-to-room to cover the clientele – well done to the staff for their dedication!

Recommended for an informal family outing or a casual business lunch.

I think the food tasted better than usual because I was starving from a hike. Service was slow, we had to remind a couple of times for refills and asked for the check twice. Having said that, the food tasted fresh and was cooked to temp. Slightly more expensive than seemed reasonable.

The outside patio was lovely (in good weather). The inside was a house and felt like it with the lower ceilings and small dining rooms. Nothing stood out enough to return.

I cam here for lunch this past weekend with my friend. It was my first time, very interesting restaurant i an old house. First I got the clam chowder which was average, it was the thin broth so I wasn’t to trilled about it. I tried the salmon burger with sweet potato fries which were both good. I also ordered the gin drink on the menu and it was so good, tart but i loved it! My friend got a flight and got the short rib grilled cheese which she also enjoyed.

Nice place. I had the steak tips. They were good. It could use a little more flavor and they were slightly overdone. The fries were pretty good. My wife had the lemon chicken. That was pretty good. The staff was friendly. They could have been a little more attentive. The place was clean. We sat outdoors, which is nice.

If you’re driving too quickly you might not spot this hidden gem. I can’t believe I’ve lived in the area for as long as I have and this restaurant was new to me. Located in Acton, MA, it offers a very unique feel where comfort fusions amazingly with the traditional. Although I do not know much about the history of the location of Rapscallion, you notice that they kept the “homey” feel of the original house. The architecture is there and they make great use of it offering private rooms for your party. We were in a large group on a Thursday evening, without a reservation, and we’re able to be accommodated, but I’d suggest you call in advance and ask about having a reservation. The set up indoors was perfect! Service was awesome! Our group tried and shared a variety of apps and main dishes and ALL the food was absolutely delicious! I know this may be seasonal, but if you can try the lobster grilled cheese, please do! I’ve never had anything like it before, and the truffle Brussels sprouts melt in your mouth. I certainly plan to go back in different seasons to try new things and hope our favorites remain available.

It was Valentine’s day, but a busy restaurant shouldn’t be an excuse for just ok food with a big price tag. The meat was dry and tough in both of our dishes (chicken and steak) and the dessert seemed thrown together. A couple years ago, this was the most recommended restaurant in the area, but now it seems to have changed.

We came here for lunch this past weekend and were blown away by the fantastic hospitality provided us by the restaurant staff. Our server gave us great suggestions on beers based on our likes/dislikes, and she gave us her honest feedback on the questions we had of the various menu entrees. The poutine with short ribs was great as an appetizer. As an entree, I had the fish and chips with cole slaw, and the fish was nicely prepared as it was lightly breaded and not heavily coated. My wife had the pea risotto with grilled chicken, which she loved as she enjoyed the Parmesan cheese in the dish. Our server and another server helped answer our questions we had of the local area. They never made us feel as if we were bothering them but instead made sure to give us their opinions of the various questions we had about the local area. For a friendly and down to earth place to go with great food, I would highly recommend giving Rapscallion a try. We will definitely be back!
