Urban Eatery’s menu changes regularly with respect to what we are into at the moment, whether it’s an ingredient, band, chef or current event. Our goal is to make everyone feel like whanau – whether it is your first or fortieth time. We believe that serving up good juju isn’t just in the food and drink, but in the attitude and atmosphere which makes Urban the perfect place to stop in and refuel.

Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in NZ. I’m not normally an oyster person but I ordered seconds. And their staff was incredibly sweet. I’ll make a point of returning every time I pass through Nelson.

Absolutely delicious spot in the centre of Nelson. Stopped in to enjoy the oyster happy hour and it did not disappoint. Oysters both mignonette and tempura were delicious and fresh. We also had the salmon like & beef tartar (ultimate girl dinner) and the ham hock! Wonderful atmosphere sat outside in the sun and staff were friendly and super helpful.

Absolutely loved this experience, I booked online in Oz a month before. Simply by reading the reviews, I thought I should also share my experience. The service was fantastic very friendly and personal. The oysters and drinks were the star of the show for us! Enjoyed a variety of oysters with different garnishes, each really tasty and unique.
Unfortunately they were already sold out of the mussels, which was disappointing given we had an early sitting at 5:30pm. The rest of the mains felt a little bit confused with a fusion of Vietnamese, Japanese and other Asian cuisines. Tasty, but some of the flavour combinations were too rich together and a bit overpowering.
Would recommend for oysters and drinks with nibbles, not necessarily their main dishes.

Super quiet night in Nelson when we chose to eat here. However that didn’t affect the quality of the food. Was super delicious and massive portions. Super good for my coeliac wife as well. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend

Honestly, it was the worst food experience we had in all our entire trip around South Island. If you love seafood as us, it’s not the place to choose. Everything was tasteless. We had to go to another restaurant to finish our dinner .

Fabulous. Best meal in 2 months travelling round Australia & NZ. Initially I ignored it as an option because I don’t like oysters; fortunately they offer a lot more. Excellent choice of wines, helpful cheerful and enthusiastic staff. Impeccable music choice too. Great value. Just go; it’s excellent.

Really liked the food here. We had excellent fresh oysters, a couple mains and dessert. Everything was very fresh and unique. I appreciate a place that experiments with some new flavours! Service was a tad slow and scattered (took maybe 20 mins for us to order food)

An amazing restaurant in the heart of Nelson. A nice quiet spot for dinner. We had a few small plates to share and some yummy cocktails. A must try is the oysters (the restaurant name kind of gives it away!). The food was fusion Asian and didn’t disappoint!
