Do you like BBQ but miss the portion sizes you had in the North Korean gulag? Well, Old Hickory is the place you’ve been looking for! Overall, the quality of the BBQ was pretty decent. Pulled pork sandwich, grilled chicken with BBQ sauce, and ribs were all good.

The ribs are the smallest rack I’ve ever seen. Take out sides contain 4 bites of what seemed to be canned green beans with no additional flavoring and GFS Mac and cheese. Utter fail on sides and portions. For my $$, I’ll go to City BBQ….

This was my first time eating at this restaurant. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and steak fries for delivery. I got the BBQ sauce on the side, because I’m fairly picky with my BBQ sauce. I did end up liking the sauce, but I only used it on my sandwich because the chicken was so dry. I also got crinkle-cut fries and not steak fries. Definitely lacking some attention to detail here.

I have eaten here a few times in the past. The people at the counter are always friendly and helpful. Kinda small place on the inside but clean. I always get mine to go and it is ready when I get there. Today I got pulled pork, beans and potato salad. Pork was the best. Very tender with good flavor in the sauce. Beans are average to pretty good. Potato salad has cheese and bacon. Pretty good as well. Come in and check them out. All this for lunch for around $7.

This is undoubtedly the most disappointing and overpriced barbecue restaurant I have ever encountered. It feels almost like a scam, and I am surprised they remain in business. I paid $20 for a rack of ribs that were burnt, overcooked, tough, and thinner than a McRib from McDonald’s. The fried chicken sandwich tasted as though it had been cooked in old oil. After giving this place a second chance, the experience was even worse. Despite our efforts to be understanding, it was a mistake. There’s no way the staff can be unaware of the poor quality of the food they serve. This establishment would be a prime candidate for Kitchen Nightmares due to its inadequacies. No amount of friendliness can compensate for such a terrible dining experience. I would rather go hungry than return to this “restaurant.”

Lot of food for lunch
Old staple in Dayton. The bbq flavor it is ok overall and the abundance, the amount of food, makes up for the average taste. I hit them up once every 5 or 6 months.

Always consistent in taste and price and better than most places in portion sizes.
This a good place for lunch.

The price in the about same as Longhorn but you get more meat, but a much smaller salad and a roll instead of bread but you do have to pay extra for sour cream which I found weird considering the price of the meal. But this is an independent place so even if it is a little more we want to support them too!

Ate in after a full day at the Air Force Museum. Got the mini ribs and chops with loaded Jacket Potato and Beans. Great combo, friendly and quick service. The sauce was a little on the sweet side for me, but definitely a hearty meal.

Went to Old Hickory on Woodman Dr. In Dayton tonight and they gave me two of the worst burnt and dried out so-called broasted pork chops I have ever had in my life! They were like day-old leftover pork chops warmed up in a microwave. In fact they were so tough and dry it was like eating pork rinds. A couple of weeks ago when I ordered another dinner to go from there, they forgot to include the baked potato that I ordered with my dinner and I complained, so I went back tonight and this is what I got. They should be embarrassed but I’m sure they don’t care. Needless to say I’ll never go back.

Just a small diner with big star taste. They got what it takes been around for many years always a steady line going thru the drive thru. It’s hard to pass it up when you smell the BBQ outside.

Went through for their ‘boneless ribs’ basket and it’s literally an over cooked pork chop with BBQ sauce not even cooked onto it. Fries were totally unsalted. The broasted chicken was good and my kids enjoyed the flat rolls. The teens working there were super raunchy, talking about customers in the dining room very unkindly, talking about fighting people and making fun of people calling in to order.

The food is ok but the staff is terrible. They seem like they wish you weren’t there. The staff is actually so bad, its good enough reason to not go there.
