Seafood fries are a must. The sauce tastes like a mix between a slightly spicy sushi sauce and dill flavor. The salmon chowder is superb. Perfect amount of fish and spices. The view is good. Can see the lake but there is a dirt patch partially blocking your view. Overall, excellent place to stop for our lunch!

If you’re in Grand Marais, the fried whitefish basket at The Fisherman’s Daughter is an absolute must—hands down the freshest, most delicious Lake Superior whitefish you’ll ever taste! Caught locally and fried to perfection, the fish comes out golden and crispy on the outside while staying incredibly flaky, moist, and tender inside. The light batter lets the sweet, clean flavor of the whitefish shine through without any greasiness—each bite is pure North Shore perfection. It’s served in a generous basket with crisp fries, fresh coleslaw, and their tangy house-made tartar sauce that complements it beautifully.
What makes the experience unforgettable is enjoying it on their incredible deck overlooking the harbor. Perched right on the water, you get panoramic views of the iconic Grand Marais lighthouse, colorful fishing boats gently rocking in the waves, and the vast expanse of Lake Superior stretching out before you. On a sunny day, the breeze off the lake and the sound of seagulls create the perfect relaxed vibe—it’s like dining in a postcard. The outdoor seating is spacious and pet-friendly, making it ideal for soaking in the scenery while savoring every bite.

Beautiful views of the lake and harbor from the tables on the back terrace. Delicious walleye tacos and herring&chips. Loved the salmon chowder – my favorite thing on the menu! No wait for an early evening on a Friday in early October

Make sure to grab a spot on the balcony facing the lake for some views while you enjoy the food!

Food was under seasoned. The fish was over fried. It was a fun atmosphere. Fries were better than the fish. It was not the amazing meal that it was made out to be. That being said it wasn’t bad, just had higher expectations for a place that boasts fresh from the lake to the table.

It is an interesting little restaurant inside a fish shop. Right off highway 61.
We ordered from the counter and found a spot out on the patio facing Lake Superior. Ok view looking over a couple businesses.
Our food was brought out promptly to us. We shared an order of fish and chips and a basket of fried clams. Both were pretty good.

These were the best fish n chips I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not joking. And I’ve had a lot of fish n chips. The fish was cooked to perfection, as were the fries. Excellent service, very cute joint with a great atmosphere. We picked up some smoked salmon on our way out, it was absolutely excellent.
My only complaint is they’re hundreds of miles away from my home!

Fish fry at a small lakeside town always hits, and this fish was really good. They had a few options for fish at a decent price (16-18), and the fries were seasoned really good. The fish melts in your mouth and is honestly so good, wasn’t disappointed at all. Service was quick and it was nice to eat outside.
