Note that this is a late post because we have been too busy with the Indian festive season until this time. But we want to make sure they don’t ruin other people’s parties like they did with ours.
We had ordered one large FULL TRAY of boneless chicken biriyani and a small order of butter chicken for a Labor Day weekend party. While the butter chicken was fine (as it should be), the entire large full tray of biriyani was an absolute disaster. There was no look or the aroma of a typical biriyani. To make matters worse, there were hardly any pieces of chicken to be found in the biriyani either (please look at the photo). First, we thought that perhaps the chicken was underneath the mountain of rice. But then, after hopelessly combing through the entire full tray with all our scoopers and ladles, we realized that this was simply a BIG MOUNTAIN OF SOME FLAVORED RICE and that’s all. You could have stuffed it into your pillow case to sleep well and maybe dream of biriyani. Joke aside, but this was just a TON of rice that seemed to have been flavored by some kind of chicken gravy and we paid $190 for this!!!. For a restaurant with the word biriyani in its name, they should know that biriyani is NOT rice mixed with gravy. It is far more intricate and flavorful than that. Luckily, our guests were sympathetic and gave us lots of opinions about this hopeless catering from Bawarchi Biriyanis. They said that we should never order from them anymore because although they used to be good in the past, their service and quality have deteriorated these days.
When we told the guy who had taken our order about our disappointment, there were no apologies of any kind from him and not even a simple sorry (forget any partial refund). He seemed to be surprised. He simply asked us to give them another try.
We may have been fooled once but WILL NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF CATERING from this place again unless we are sure the food is better and more importantly, the customer service lives up to a decent standard. Right now there are plenty of new Indian restaurants that have come up recently in Overland Park and we would be happy to try out other places.
On another visit, I tried the Goat Mandi Biryani, and it was equally impressive. The meat was juicy and cooked to perfection, while the rice carried a delicious smoky aroma with just the right level of seasoning. The portion size was generous, and the presentation was excellent. The authentic mandi flavor truly stood out.
Highly recommend this place for anyone craving authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine. Absolutely delicious — I’ll definitely be returning!
Highly recommend this place for authentic and satisfying food. Will definitely visit again! ️✨
Naans
Chillie fish is too good and more than expected
Naans were perfect
The goat masala I felt they just heated up the cooked goat and added the raw spices before sending it to table and tasted more turmeric
I guess they didn’t cook it
and had no taste no flavor didn’t like prefer not to order
They replaced with different curry but killed my appetite before their replaced curry
Spoiled the vibe
Service is really good
Everything we ordered tasted great — we had mutton pepper fry, Gobi Manchurian, fish fry, chicken lollipops, Karampodi kodi, and mutton biryani. The mocktails were refreshing and paired well with the meal.
It’s a wonderful spot for families, with plenty of options for both vegetarians and non‑vegetarians. We really enjoyed our time there.
