The receptionist spoke with a thick accent that was hard to understand. We were seated within half an hour. We informed our server, Thomas, that we were there to celebrate a birthday. We requested black pepper but never received it. We also asked for sauce, which came after our meal, resulting in an additional charge of $0.50 on the bill. We wanted our sushi to arrive before the meal, but the waiter refused to put in the sushi order, stating he had to take the whole table’s order first. When the sushi finally arrived, it was cold. I had to wait for the sauce, which, when it finally came, ruined the entire sushi experience.
Thomas never refilled our drinks, and they didn’t acknowledge the birthday at all. The overall service was discourteous. The chef appeared to be experiencing some personal issues or illness, as he seemed very sad and did not provide a good show.
The overall experience was terrible. We spoke to the manager, who refunded us for the sushi. Given that our dining experience cost over $100, I would not recommend this restaurant. It’s overrated, understaffed, and the bathrooms were filthy. Thomas, our waiter, was horrible.

This was my first time here at this establishment. The atmosphere was great. The food was absolutely delicious. Our chef was very nice and accommodating. The server was also very nice and respectful. It took awhile for the chef to come out and prepare and cook our food. They have plenty of places to park. The prices are decent for the amount of food you get. I will definitely be back. I enjoyed the food and the conversations with loved ones.

The food was absolutely amazing — flavorful, high quality, and the portions were very generous.
We did have about a 10-minute wait when we arrived, but it honestly wasn’t bad at all, especially compared to what we expected. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was fantastic — very friendly and poured a perfect glass of wine.
The chef clearly knows what they’re doing because the food was outstanding. Everything from the quality to the presentation was top tier. The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, and the overall experience was a solid 10 out of 10.

I have been to this restaurant twice. My first experience I dined in and the server was a good time. The food was good, no complaints. My second experience was yesterday. I ordered take out and I was highly disappointed. I ordered two meals one adult meal and one kids meal. My kids meal had more food than my adult meal. The way it was handled was even more insulting. I won’t go into detail but just beware. If you order take out please check your food before you leave! The photo is of the adult meal.

Our extended family enjoyed lunch at your Old Wake Forest Rd location today. It was our Christmas meal and we couldn’t have asked for better service and food! Wesley was an outstanding server and Ricky was tons of fun and prepared our food perfectly. I was especially impressed that my gluten free dish was prepared in the back to ensure no cross contamination. It was hot and delicious and served at the same time as the rest of the food prepared on the grill in front of us. Thank you for making our Christmas gathering so memorable. Came here for a birthday and was pleasantly surprised to find this place. Staff was friendly and very helpful asking for preferences and allergies for food prep.
Ordered a Philly roll and the shrimp tempura roll as a app and it was decent. Had a bit too much rice as a wrap but still tasted fresh and delicious.
Split a Banzai meal for the hibachi for the $5 upcharge and was well worth it. There was more than enough food that we ended up taking a near full box home.
Rice was great and was fried with eggs and soy sauce and garlic butter giving it a great flavorful taste.
Veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly.
Shrimp was cooked with garlic butter and lemon and were on point. Really great taste.
Steak ordered medium well was cooked perfectly and paired perfectly with the ginger sauce they offer. It was a NY Strip cut. Chef took care to remove the fat caps so the piece were not chewy at all.
Chicken was juicy and well seasoned.
Lastly the staff offered a rainbow sherbet for the birthday guests. It was a nice treat to freshen the plate as it was a lemon and orange flavor.
Overall it was a great meal and this is easily my new fav spot for hibachi.

Me and my boyfriend enjoyed our experience at Kanki. Our chef that cooked our food was amazing, funny & very experienced. The waiter was also very professional and she was very nice. The food was extremely good and flavorful. We enjoyed everything we had, the soup, salad, calamari, and our hibachi plate. The steak was extremely tender & well seasoned. Everything was great, we have to come back because we really enjoyed ourselves.
