Delicious food, peaceful atmosphere, excellent service; we will return. The menu is diverse with many authentic Chinese dishes and traditional Chinese-American dishes. I just returned from Guangzhou. Based on the meals I had in China, I can say that Lotus Garden is the real deal. The twice cooked pork is incredible – pork belly with leeks – and something as simple as a side dish of lo mein was fresh and al dente.

The food was freshly cooked, but each dish we had was just a little underwhelming. The crispy duck was cooked well but was plain with no sauce which was lackluster. The cumin short ribs were overcooked which made them tough and the cumin was in a sauce which is odd given that cumin short ribs are usually a dry rub. The green beans were seasoned with nothing but salt which is not the standard for this dish at authentic restaurants either. The restaurant just also seems…tired. It’s dark, dusty and it just had a general grimy feel. Our napkin holder had not gotten a wipe down in a long while and there was a very long cobweb hanging from the skylight. The tables almost seem like they used to have table cloths because they are very utilitarian in comparison to the restaurants theme. Service and food was slow. There appeared to be one young server managing all the tables, and he was doing his best, but he seemed like he needed some help. The bathrooms were really nice and clean and appeared to have been recently renovated. Something I feel the rest of the restaurant could also benefit from. We did not hate our experience but it was a pretty “meh” and forgettable overall and this won’t be among our first choices to eat out in the future. Compared to most American Chinese take-out places, the food here is better, but it falls short for those of us with knowledge of authentic Chinese cuisine.

Have to have our Lotus Garden fix at least once a month. Appreciate the variety on the dim sum menu and traditional Chinese / Cantonese dishes like salt & pepper fish, spicy turnip cake, yang zhou fried rice and so many more. Come to eat family style and enjoy many dishes. Tea service is also a must! Staff are always very kind, flexible, and efficient. Note: Some of the previous reviews / pictures are from pre-Covid. The restaurant has moved to a shopping plaza in the last two years that offers better parking and more seating.

I had a pick between this place and the buffet. I chose here because of the lunch items they obviously have on no buffets in the whole country like Shrimp and Lobster Sauce, and Kung Po is more rare on a buffet.
They give decent sized shrimps that come in I think 12. A lot of garlic and very good. I prefer dark lobster sauce but for the light, this was a real good one.
This is a classic more authentic style restaurant that I do recommend if you’re in the area. Real good hot egg rolls too.

Lotus Garden has always been a favorite for my family to go to.. when they were at their old location; seems like it’s just not the same since they moved.
Food is still good quality and I liked my Crab Ragoons as I did before, but the service though this time.. for a quick carry-order was pretty bad n’ not worth the money. The Manager on duty was short with me when taking my order, which I would understand if they were busy, but literally had only 2 tables occupied in this huge place at the time.
They don’t accept special request.. all I wanted was a side of Garlic Sauce w/ my Ragoons, same stuff they would give ya at Yummi Bowl. No we can’t do that for whatever reason..
My order was sitting around for 10 mins when I came to pick up the order until anybody noticed me.. ughh, n then when I asked for Duck Sauce, it was a big deal and literally told me to go take the packs off of the tables if I needed some..
N then got my Dad an order of the General Pso Beef ($15) which looked pretty pathetic w/ the unordered veggies & with a unnecessary Huge Soup bowl of General Pso’s Sauce lol … on the side w/ the little amount of Beef entrée.
Needless to say.. disappointed. I miss the old Lotus Garden. You could get some grear service, amazing crab legs, and garlic butter heated over a candle. That was fire back then!
..Just like alot of the reviews I’ve seen.. it’s sad if you were “impressed” by this location.. you obviously were never at the older Location and were never able to experience that delicacy. ♂️

Very good Chinese food for Indy. Dim sum menu was limited, but better than anything else available in this city.

We suddenly had a craving for some Chinese food and decided to try Lotus Garden. It was our first time here. The inside was nice and the server was excellent. It started well with some really good and freshly made eggrolls. Unfortunately, the fried rice seemed a bit off. Im no expert but I felt like another dishes flavors might have mixed into it. I only say this because the flavors I was tasting couldnt have come from anything in the description. Otherwise, I think it is definitely worth another try

I absolutely love it here! My partner is Chinese, so we have went for Dim Sum around the city for years. It felt like they all started closing one by one. After the last one we went to as a family closed, we did a search and found Lotus Garden. The Dim Sum menu is smaller, but what they make, they do so incredibly well. My partner’s family is Cantonese, and they have said the taste reminds them of back in San Francisco. I’ve tried probably 5 or 6 different Dim Sum places around Indy (with a couple in Chicago), and this, by far, has been my favorite taste profile. It tastes so comforting. The dishes we also love from the main menu are Garlic Fried Green Beans, Beef Chow Fun Noodles, and Salt and Pepper Fish. The service has always been warm and friendly when we’ve went. If you’ve never tried Dim Sum, I encourage you to Google it, or ask questions in the restaurant, and give it a try here ❤️ And if you Have had Dim Sum and traditional Chinese meals, but haven’t given them a try, please do. We really want them to stay in business so we can keep enjoying them haha.
