Love the atmosphere and the vibe is incredible. I thought the food was good but not great. I got the chicken BBQ sandwhich, first off massive portion which is awesome! Also it comes on a super fresh hoggie roll. The chicken itself I thought was a little dry, but I loved how it came in big chopped pieces as opposed to a shredded option like you usually get at most BBQ places. I also love that they added very little sauce in the sandwich and you could just add your own. It was a meat forward sandwich which I love. The sandwhich combo comes with a side I got coleslaw which was fine. If the chicken was just a little more moist I would have given this place 5 stars through and through. I think next time I might try ribs, brisket or pork.

This spot has been on my list for the past 3 years and haven’t had an opportunity to stop by or they were closed. WELL WORTH THE WAIT!

1/2 rack of ribs and brisket were super tender, the ribs were also fall off the bone soft. Both had a nice bark was nice and smoke ring shows how long it’s been in the smoker and the bbq sauce was a nice complement to the meat.

Mac n cheese was flavorful, I think I taste Gouda and and a little heat from it. Very satisfying.

Potatoe salad was creamy and light, good mouth contrast with everything we got.

Corn bread made from scratch and has chunks of corn in it.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cool little spot off highway 1 inside of an orange trailer.

Waited 30ish minutes and spent $55 dollars for everything above plus a soda. Split between two people and had left overs. Worth it and would definitely come back.

The best BBQ that I have had in a long time the Brisket melted in your mouth and the ribs are amazing. Triple D visited there and that is how I found about this great BBQ, the owner was very friendly and I enjoyed talking with her.

This food is good. Got the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich and the meat was juicy and perfectly cooked. Saw this place on my way to Grey Whale Cove and saw the long line stretching down the street so thought it would be worth a gander and boy was I not mistaken. The sauce that comes with the sandwich has just the right amount of spice to it to really set off meat and give it that extra flavor. Got the last of the brisket and really glad I did because it was amazing, perfect amount of fat on the meatband bbq to perfection. The sides are tasty though I would recommend the potato salad the most had loads of flavor and no onions which is a plus for me. The cornbread is good comes in a little muffin though I wish it had been warmed and came with butter. The beans in rice was bland had no spices at all I guess I could have mixed in the sandwich sauce but hindsight always 20/20 right. They had a lot of canned beverages to choose from but I am most appreciative that they had Squirt as thats my favorite and most places don’t carry it. Staff is great and friendly and the service is super fast by the time I finished my order the food was out in about a minute no joke, so if you’re in the mood for BBQ or just good food in general definitely check this place out.

Smokey, yummy, deliciousness! Takeout spot that has a small inviting counter to order. The pulled pork sandwich came on the softest roll, piled high with tender, smokey pork, and a tasty BBQ sauce on the side that was equally sweet and spicy. The perfect fit for the pork. Don’t even get me started on the mac and cheese! I am definitely a cheese head, and this side was THE BEST Mac I have ever had! Creamy, rich, and savory sauce on fat perfectly cooked Mac, with the bread crumb crisp to finish it off. So good! The prices are high but reflect the quality of food (I paid about $15 for this combo and canned soda, but it could be easily shared between two people). There isn’t any seating, but you are a short drive away from the beautiful Pacifica Beach where you can devour some amazing BBQ while watching the surfers glide by.

We’ve been coming here periodically for over a decade and I can say with high confidence that the quality has been consistently degrading. The first time we came, we found the portions huge and the meat fresh and tender. The flavor was phenomenal, the prices reasonable, and the hours convenient.

Now they are only open three days a week. We arrived 30 minutes after opening on a Friday presuming that we will get the freshest possible meat. Instead we found the brisket very dry and flavorless and the portion quite small for an unreasonable price. The ribs were huge, but under-done and lacking flavor (all you could taste was pork fat). The BBQ sauce tasted old. Pasta in the Mac & Cheese was over-cooked and the flavor was over-powered by the spices/rub mixed-in.

Plus, as you can see from the menu from 2017, they’ve gotten rid of the combo platters to streamline the menu. But it makes ordering a decent variety for a small number of people impractical.

We no longer plan to make lunch at Gorilla a central part of our day trips up to Pacifica from Mountain View…not worth it anymore, especially with it being 100% take-out.

Not as good as it was pre pandemic. Got chicken sandwich that had three bones in, side of Mac n cheese was tiny (2-3 bites). Pulled pork was very fatty and wasn’t crisp. Got lean brisket which was ok, but overall, very expensive for what you get.

Was looking for some good Cali bbq, found this and I do have to say that the bbq itself definitely lives up to the hype. Not the best I’ve ever had but the best I’ve had in Cali!
I had the brisket and Mac n cheese.

First the star; the brisket. The meat was super tender and juicy, moist with the perfect amount of fat and char. Taste was very good and overall it was just a great example of bbq, not just for the west coast but in general. I’d give the brisket a 4.7/5 star rating!

The Mac n cheese, well it was a disappointment. Not sure if it’s always like this but the noodles were to soft almost to the point of being soggy, the cheese sauce was nice and thick but something was just off about it. Flavor was okay but nothing to write home about. It seemed like this was not freshly made and I was really disappointed in the Mac. My rating would be a 1.5/5 stars for this.

Overall not sure if I just got an older batch of Mac or what, but the bbq itself is what redeemed them and I would go again just for that.

Good ribs, not good cornbread, good portion, quick service and friendly staff. You order, pick up and can sit in your car and eat. Probably not the most healthy meal, but was good to try. The corn bread is made in a muffin style, very small, stale and dry, won’t recommend it.

Been here couple times & tried all the meats this little store has but my favorites are ribs & beef briskets. Those are so soft & just fall off the bone (ribs). The dipping sauce is amazingly good too. Price keeps increasing but it’s worth it for the taste of bbq. Line always long right before it opens. If you want to avoid the line, come around 1:00 PM ish. Plenty parking spots where people just buy & eat in their car. No dining tables here.
