Tucked away in the bustling LA dining scene, Sea Harbor consistently proves why it’s a true institution for high-quality, authentic Cantonese-style Chinese cuisine. While the weekend dim sum is famous, I recently visited for dinner and was completely blown away by their specialty dishes, which feel like a step above standard Chinese fare.
The atmosphere is always lively—bustling but never overwhelming—making it perfect for family gatherings or celebratory dinners. The service is efficient and attentive, ensuring teacups are always full and dishes arrive quickly and piping hot.
The Trilogy of Excellence (Your Recommendations are Spot On):
* Roast/Peking Duck: This is non-negotiable. The duck here is legendary. The skin shatters with the slightest pressure, giving way to incredibly tender, juicy meat. It’s prepared and carved perfectly, and the overall flavor is rich and complex. A benchmark duck for all of Southern California.
* Crispy Fried Pigeon: If you’ve never tried it, this is the place. It’s often overlooked, but Sea Harbor’s preparation is flawless. The skin is deeply seasoned and crisp, and the meat is surprisingly tender and savory—a truly authentic and delicious experience that showcases the skill of the kitchen.
* Signature Fried Fish Dish: The quality of their seafood shines brightly here and perfectly cooked. The exterior was lightly battered and wonderfully crisp, while the fish inside remained moist and flaky. You can taste the freshness, proving they source top-tier ingredients.
Sea Harbor is more than just a restaurant; it’s an experience in authentic Cantonese dining. If you are a serious fan of classic Chinese cuisine, and especially if you are looking to treat yourself to exceptional duck, unique delicacies like the pigeon, and fried fish, don’t walk, run there! You won’t regret it!

I love this dim sum. Must be one of the best if not the best. Everyone I know that had been here also love this Dim Sum. We live in OC but would drive here from time to time to eat here for dim sum.

If you’re planning a visit, be prepared for a crowd. We went for lunch and had a significant 35-minute wait to be seated. The dining room was buzzing and clearly very popular.
However, the reason for the queue is simple: this is some of the best and most authentic Chinese food I’ve had outside of mainland China. Everything we tried was fantastic, but the one dish you absolutely must order is the roasted pork. It’s delicious: crispy skin, tender meat, and perfectly seasoned.
Go, but maybe try to get there a little before the lunch rush, or just accept the wait!

Wow!! This is special! True elevated Cantonese dim sum all the way baby! I have not had this in a long time. Shumai was very unique tasting & light, not greasy nor overly salted. Chicken feet were huge. They automatically serve traditional hot mustard as a condiment. The wait was long because the restaurant isn’t that big and when you arrive you enter your party size in the electronic system. Overall a blast to the past with a light twist. A reminder of what quality dim sum is all about! Definitely deserves many happy returns when in the area.

Chef Tony He does it again, he really is the godfather of dimsum in LA. Fantastic restaurant offering delicious food in a bustling atmosphere. The dimsum is very high quality and tastes wonderful. Be ready for a slight wait on weekends, especially during lunch time. Don’t worry though the food comes out quickly. Service is nice overall, but this was the first time I have ever been directly confronted by a staff member for not tipping enough. Very bold of the staff to straight up say I should tip more.

Okay first off get there early. We waited almost two hours, which kinda sucks because after waiting so long you are hoping the skies open up and deliver food from heaven. Also the parking is limited. So again, get there early!

We went for dim sum on a Saturday so that could be the problem. Please do it expect carts here. They use a menu. The menu offers really unique dishes which is quite fun!

The service was typical Asian, efficient. The restaurant is clean and well laid out. The bathroom is kept up.

The food came out hot and tasty. The lotus leaf smell was real and oh so amazing! The portion of meat to bread in the bao was perfect. All the flavors were good.

I would come again and try different dishes but I’d come early

Sea Harbour consistently proves why it’s a true institution for high quality, authentic Cantonese style cuisine. Their weekend dim sum was so good

I ordered a lot of dim sum for 2 of us , and everything was delicious. I was honestly surprised when I got the bill , it was much cheaper than I expected! If I had eaten the same amount at my favorite dim sum spot in Irvine, it would have cost more.

The atmosphere is lively and bustling, perfect for family gatherings, though it can get quite noisy when crowded. Service is efficient and attentive, with tea refilled constantly and dishes arriving quickly and piping hot.

Parking can be a challenge, so be prepared to hunt for a spot, especially on busy weekends.

Arrived at 10:40 am and had no parking space and waited for 20 minutes to get a seat. Most shrimp dumplings were delicious. It’s worth the money, so you should try it.

This is so classic! Crunchy, shrimpy, juicy. 6 pieces takes $20.00 but I don’t regret it. I probably wouldn’t get it again but I was very very satisfied.

If you’re a dim sum lover looking for something elevated, this spot is a must-try when you visit LA. Sea Harbor lives up to its Michelin reputation, delivering top-tier dim sum crafted by renowned chef Tony He. Every dish I tried was packed with flavor, but the standout for me was the Charsiu Bao. It’s hands down the best BBQ pork bun I’ve ever had, which is soft, fluffy, and bursting with perfectly seasoned filling. The overall quality is exceptional, though the prices on the higher side. Plenty of parking but you should plan ahead or arrive early. The service is fast and efficient, but it might feel a little rushed.
