Burgers & other fast-food options at a regional chain named after a legendary American cowboy actor.

I love Roy Rogers the cowboy and I generally enjoy The Roy Rogers restaurants. However, today we ate at the Roy Rogers in Gainesville, Virginia. There was an odor near the soda bar. I ordered a double r barburger which was actually very good. My Large order of fries was cold. My coleslaw was warm so warm that I elected not to eat it. We reported the cold fries and they were quickly replaced with hot fries. Service was good. We also ordered a new item on the menu. The golden nuggets. The original order of the nuggets were not cold but they were lukewarm. They replaced those without us needing to ask. The hot nuggets were actually pretty good. After finishing what we decided to eat, I checked out the men’s room. There is no soap in the sink. Nothing came out of the soap pump and the air blowing hand dryer was not operational. There were no cloths or towels to dry off our hands. I really don’t like giving bad reviews but I can’t help it with this one. I love this chain and I hate to see one having these kinds of problems. I did thank the staff for their fast service.

Very disappointed in this location. First the good. Service was great. The drive thru employee actually noticed and corrected a mistake, which is rare. However, the food was like a joke. Look at the attached picture and tell me if that’s a “large” roast beef sandwich? Come on, are you kidding me? It was bland and flavorless as well as inadequate. What a waste of money.

I had a less than stellar experience yesterday at this location. I ordered drive thru at about 5pm. The order took about 20 minutes with people backing up in their cars behind me. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but it seemed like maybe they were short staffed? The girl at the drive thru did her best to get the order out as quicly as she could, and in the end, I did get the order. However, when I got home, I was less than satisfied with the meal. I ordered the roast beef sliders, which I usually love, but for some reason this time, they were dry and had tons of gristle in them. Most of it I could not finish and I probably will not get this item again. I am sure they did the best they could, but otherwise, I have had many good experiences at this location, usually on the weekend during lunch. Anyways keep it up old roy’s, thanks!

Best Roy Rogers experience hands down! Every time I visit this restaurant the experience is consistently outstanding. Juju and her staff go above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service that makes you feel truly welcomed the moment you walk through the door. The entire team is friendly, professional, and always accommodating, you can tell they genuinely care about their customers.
The restaurant is spotless, from the dining area to the restrooms, which really shows the pride they take in keeping everything clean and inviting. It makes the whole dining experience that much better.
Juju’s leadership skills are remarkable her energy and positivity set the tone for her staff, and it shows in the way the team works together seamlessly. The result is a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels rare in fast food.
If you’re looking for great food, outstanding service, and a restaurant that is clean and well-managed, look no further than this Roy Rogers. Juju and her team set the standard, and it’s clear why this location stands out. Highly recommend stopping by…. you won’t be disappointed!

Legit the best, friendliest service I’ve had at a fast food establishment in like 20 years. Dude who took my order inside had impeccable customer service skills. I wish I owned a business so I could lure him away to come and work for me, but he’s so good I’d probably end up selling the business to him after a couple prosperous decades, and that would cause a rift in my family because my son would feel extremely dejected and would turn to the bottle, feeling that even though he’s my only child he’d never be as good as this gentleman; and he’d be right. We’d have a falling out and I wouldn’t see him again until I was on my death bed, and when he does finally show up during my final week or so it would only be to drunkenly curse me out, saying that while I may be a great businessman, I was a failure as a father. All things considered, it’s probably for the best that I don’t own a business. Or have a son.

My visits here have been a mixed bag—service is often underwhelming, and food quality can be inconsistent. I’d consider coming more often if the experience were more reliable. On my most recent visit, I paid just under $17 for two roast beef sandwiches that were unfortunately inedible. The meat was so tough and chewy that I couldn’t finish it. I hope that steps are taken to improve both food quality and service moving forward.

I’ve been going to this Roy Rogers since 2021 and to let you know that how many times I’ve visited there I’ve spent $921.47 since. I’ve had different individuals with rude service during that time, but none as bad as this last time. For one thing we had an issue with the tap payment. Have to use Face ID to enable the payment. The first one gave me an audible message in the car telling me the payment had gone through. But the cashier states that it didn’t go through so then I reenabled with Face ID when she hands my phone back then she stands there talking to another employee not using the tap function so it expired. The other male employee becomes a smart ass because I’m asking her to hurry up to put it on the tap. The cashier walks away, saying I’m not waiting on him. Another female employee comes over and actually performs the transaction successfully and was polite, but the previous male employee that was holding a conversation with previous cashier started making comments let me hand him his food with a stupid grin on his face staring me down and the person that was actually waiting on me told him no you’re not touching his food, making me think that he had plans i’m doing something unlawful. Later on, I looked into my phone to see what apps had been opened. She tried to open my American Express app and some other apps on my phone and at the end, when I received my receipt, it stated that the Transaction had been canceled. Many merchants are able to take the tap out the window to allow people to use tap function. But I guess Roy Rogers can’t. Personally I don’t like Handing my phone out and having the deal with some guy that thinks he’s a thug you’ve lost my business.

What a great place. Busy but fast and quality is not lacking. I had the roast beef which I have had here dozen of times. Always amazing and tender. Tried a fried chicken breast as well. Moist, fall off the bone and tasty. One of my best fast food experiences I have had in a while.

Roy Rogers has long been a go-to for satisfying, hearty fast food, but their Double R Burger and Onion Rings elevate the fast-casual experience to a level of surprising excellence. Every bite is a testament to how a well-executed, no-frills burger can hit all the right notes of indulgence and comfort.
The Double R Burger is a masterclass in balance. The two perfectly seared beef patties offer a juicy, smoky richness, complemented by the melt-in-your-mouth softness of the fresh, toasted bun. The fresh lettuce, tomato, and onions add a refreshing crunch, while the special sauce ties everything together with a creamy, tangy kick that doesn’t overpower the flavors but enhances them beautifully. This burger isn’t just filling – it’s genuinely satisfying, offering that nostalgic yet refined fast-food experience we all crave.
What truly sets this meal apart, however, are the onion rings. Crisp and golden, these rings are everything you want in an onion ring: perfectly battered, not greasy, and with a delicate sweetness from the onions that shines through each bite. The batter is light yet substantial enough to provide a satisfying crunch with every bite, and they pair effortlessly with the burger or stand on their own as a delicious snack. Dipping them into the signature sauce only adds to the flavor experience.
Roy Rogers has managed to elevate fast food without overcomplicating it. The Double R Burger and Onion Rings combination offers a nostalgic taste of simplicity executed with care. It’s comfort food at its finest – hearty, delicious, and consistently dependable.
If you’re looking for a quick yet gratifying meal, Roy Rogers delivers a taste of satisfaction that rivals the best in the industry. Every bite leaves you thinking: this is how it should be done.
