We’ve gone to this location 3 times.
Today, our order was missing 10 items and two of the meals were so burnt we had to throw them away and make a frozen pizza for dinner instead.
Each time we’ve walked in, the employees have ignored us for 5-10 minutes.
The quality of the food at this location honestly has me worried about food poisoning. The guacamole was definitely rotten. The rice is very undercooked and could break a tooth.
The “salad” has maybe 5 pieces of lettuce.
Cafe Rio used to be my favorite restaurant but I will no longer go here.
I have done the surveys and asked to be contacted and then never received any responses.

Just go away if you have a complaint about the Rio Wowza , great sweet pork salad from the Saturday crew . Ive been to a half dozen Rios , this one a few times now. Always a friendly crew , fast line , great food as always. Ignore fake bad ‘reviews’ that are probably sabotage . This is a nice family place .

We’ve eaten at many different café Rios from Salt Lake, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Boise, even Valencia California. The food tasted fine here the service was OK a bit slow they were in the middle of a shift change. We were the only customers in line and we had to wait maybe about three minutes. They were out of rice so they changed out the rice and I noticed they use the same spoon from the old rice to the new rice and it was pretty messy looking. Also, the black beans needed changed out and again they use the same utensil rather than changing out with a fresh clean one and we all noticed how messy everything Was and I understand the nature of the food they’re mixing different things and grabbing different stuff and it’s it gets all over the place, but when there’s nobody else in line, I would think they should clean that up rather than just leaving it laying on the counter also, I noticed that they have a drink station where they have juices and teas and that was a mess. It was filthy. I just thought somebody should know and maybe train the employees a little bit better they smiled. They were nice courteous. I just felt that they were awful sloppy while we were there. Somebody changed out the trash bags in all the trash cans, but they didn’t clean the drink station nor were they cleaning the counters behind where the food is prepared and most all the tables in the dining area were dirty. We had to clean ours off before we sit down to eat, and there was only two other customers in the restaurant at that time that kind of bothered me and it just made everything look messy and not clean.

I’m really disappointed and disgusted for one that I when I ate half of my burrito I found a long hair in my food. When I called and brought it to the employees attention she didn’t care at all by saying “ we used to be required to wear hair nets, but we don’t have to anymore” I am pregnant I might add and have had a very low appetite when I was so excited to enjoy my burrito I experience a huge hair in my next bite… the employee didnt even apologize for what happened nor seem to care that was in my burrito and paid 17$ for… will not be coming back to this place again which is a shame. I would teach your employees to do better for your customers especially working in customer service and not to mention having a sanitary work place…

Showed up at 8:30, they close at 10. We stood there for about 5 minutes before they even acknowledged us. The staff was so busy breaking things down for the night that they ignored us. We both got sweet pork enchiladas that had almost no meat in them. It was a wet mess. The guy who helped us was the training manager so that was disheartening. The were about 5 employees working and they all seemed miserable. Also, they were emptying all the drinks so we couldn’t get the limeade. So disappointed and will only patronize Costa Vida from now on.

First time at a Café Rio in Boise. But compared to our experience at Utah locations it was quite disappointing.

Even the kids commented on things all tasting different, rice being hard, and the chips being over cooked and burnt tasting.

I had a steak burrito with the hotter sauce and it was good. But I agree with my kids assessment of the rice and other foods.

I might have complained about the chips to get new ones, but the place was empty aside from one other lady…. And I feared making them cook up more would cause more loss of inventory and I didn’t think they needed that.

The staff were polite and quick considering it was just the two of them up front.

In hindsight I feel we should have taken the emptiness of the location as a sign.

I hear a lot about this place and when I went in the service was quick. it was a slower time I’m going at 3:30 so in between lunch and dinner although there was steady traffic. Lots of people picking up orders. When I told the server that it was my first time the two guys behind me starting oohing and ahhhing lol and told me how delicious the pork was so I’ll have to come back because I had already gotten chicken on my salad. The salad was huge For a salad, a side of queso and a drink was $16 a little high for me but everything’s going up all the workers were working away at their own little job so I did like that they just kept working when it was slow it –seemed clean although the food area did seem a little bit messy I always get nervous when I go to a new place. The guy that served me did change gloves when he served me so I think they are conscience about cleanliness for sure. I will try it again, the salad I had was huge it’s basically a burrito with a giant pound of salad on top the dressing I did not like but I have a feeling that three out of five of my family members would like it in the queso I didn’t love either and the shredded chicken was super salty. Other than that, I would try this place again. the pork for sure next time.

As for the service, we had to repeat our orders a couple times. It was as if he was not listening after he asked us what we would like. As for the food, it was cold even after they ran it through the warmer once. I took my burrito back and had them run it 2 more times through the warmer and it was just barely warm in the middle. We both had upset stomachs within 1 to 3 hours.
Possible food poisoning from the food sitting out cold after it was cooked.

One sure thing came out of this, we will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. Paid $24.00 to end up with Diarrhea

My Pollo Asado Chicken was dry burned charred pieces. I got a very small portion because they were almost out, so I added some shredded beef and THEN I got a big chunk of fat from that. I was craving cafe rio for a week, I was Excited to finally get it today and I was very disappointed. This place has definitely gone down in my opinion. Sad.

Arrived to pickup my mobile order and was told I had to wait 20 mins while a line of people walked in and ordered in front of me. They need to push your order thru if you arrive. I worked in food for a long time and that was never the right thing to do
Spoke to manager and was told that’s the order they do them in. Definitely not looking out for the customer or even offering a solution. There was maybe 2 cars in their parking lot and waited over 30 minutes
