The customer service is out of this world! They have a lunch special that is unbelievable. We actually came back for dinner the next day because we really enjoyed our food. We got pork lo mein, orange chicken, egg rolls and hot and sour soup. The soup and egg rolls are the best in town! The lo mein and orange chicken were very good as well. Will definitely return.

Hands down the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever had! The crab rangoons were perfectly creamy (best i’ve ever had) and everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. The service was amazing too, everything came out so quick. Just an all around incredible experience. I’ll definitely be back every time I’m in Durham!

Everything we tried was good. Portion sizes are big so go hungry. Price is great for the quality and portion sizes. Staff were very attentive and made sure every one was taken care of.

I use to give this place a 5 star review, but it has just gone down hill. There was a lady there that was super nice. Her personality was unmatched. She gave amazing customer service, I just loved her. She remembered everyone’s names and was just so super sweet. She made sure my order was just the way I ordered it, she was just amazing. I don’t know what happened to her, but she needs to come back. Ever since she left service and food has been going down hill. I make an order and the guy is just super rude and tries to rush me off the phone or is just uninterested in making the order. Everytime I make an order it is never how I ordered it. They need to bring the nice lady back, until then I won’t be coming back. I could just imagine how he keeps the back of house with his lack of customer service how could he care about the back of house up to par.

The food at Shanghai Restaurant is always fresh and well prepared. Everything tastes good and consistent, and the portions are generous for the price. The prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. What really stands out is the service and the staff are polite, friendly, and make you feel welcome every time. Pick up order for chicken lo mein. Had high hopes from presentation l, portion, price, and appearance but it needs more sauce and salt. Just tastes like noodles and onions and onions with quite a bite for this dish.

After church service we decided to order lunch to takeout. We called and placed our order while in route. After paying over $70 for our order the food was ready at the counter for pick up. My sister noticed on the screen that the wrong item was in the order and brought it to the nice young lady’s attention. She was very accommodating in correcting it. My sister and I then checked all items to make sure everything else were correct. My sister noticed that one of the two crispy fried wontons was a much smaller size than the other. She brought it to the young lady’s attention and once again she was more than willing to be accommodating, however, the man that came behind the counter at this moment decided to say we received the correct size as it was part of the lunch menu. Instead of him taking the time to see what we both saw he chose to give us a bad attitude and attempted to argue with us. After I asked him why do he not just look at what my sister was describing to help him understand why this was a very obvious size difference, he took the item from the young lady and abruptly left the counter with uttering in anger while going to the kitchen. When returning he’d given us a replacement of what was now thesame size of the one we kept. I said happy holidays to him,however he chose to not acknowledge me. The young lady remained pleasant.
As a person that teaches others on customer service etiquette, I was baffled by the way this man chose to react to my sister’s request. If he was having a bad day, he would have been better off not interacting with customers if he was uncapable of being pleasant and respectful. This was my first visit and I would rather visit another restaurant where management shows appreciation to their customers. I hope that the man we dealt with reads this and understand that treating others with respect and taking time to not just listen but to show gratitude to all customers. Kindness will go a long way.
I would rather give 5 stars if he’d made the visit pleasant with good cheer.

Tried take out for the first time dining at this location. The first restaurant that actually included vegetables in sesame chicken, which is always a plus. Food was tasty and everyone was satisfied with their order. I recommend.
